What's hilarious about this is these are LAWYERS. This retention bonus is pathetic. It's $12k/y. An entry level SWE switching from US gov to private sector would bump their base comp ~$60k-100k. Imagine how much more dramatic that number is for lawyers, among the highest paid people in the US.

Apparently we're paying $25K bribes to AUSAs to convince the to risk their law license working for a shitshow DOJ. www.wsj.com/us-news/law/...

With a weighty portfolio of cases, Pirro has been working to stabilize her Washington office, which has been depleted by resignations and dismissals since Trump returned to the White House. Last month, Pirro offered prosecutors in her office a $25,000 retention bonus to stay for the next two years, according to people familiar with the matter.

Whitehouse: "The last Q I'm left with is what's left of this committee? What's left when we don't demand straight answers? How many times has this DOJ been asked what became of the $50k the FBI reported it handed to Homan? ... our Republican colleagues see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil"

Whitehouse: "Today I think is a sad and embarrassing day for this committee as it looks like on a party-line vote we are going to advance out of this committee probably the most discreditable person ever to seek the office of attorney general. Let's start with the Epstein files ... "

Wowza: Supreme Court of Hawaii bashes the majority of the U.S. Supreme Court: "The Court that now defines federal due process does not honor the work of 1954. It revives the work of 1857. The work of 1896." 1954 = Brown v. Board; 1857 = Dred Scott; 1896 = Plessy www.thebulwark.com/p/a-blisteri...

Todd Blanche's last-minute promise won over Senators Cornyn & Tillis, but shouldn't have. The "deal" leaves Trump's tax immunity intact. It confirms what the Senators should have already known about Blanche's lack of fitness to be AG. My analysis: open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

Seems like a pretty straightforward violation of the oath of office right here. The entire republican establishment should be doing time for their ongoing voter suppression fuckery. Imagine how different our country would be if 18 USC §241 had any teeth.

🚨BREAKING: A federal judge Monday blocked the Trump administration’s ban on nonpartisan groups helping newly naturalized U.S. citizens register to vote — finding the ban was likely driven by intentional discrimination against new citizens www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Our concern, first and foremost, should be with raising the floor. Instead, we let corporatists distract us with alarmism over how those same efforts bring the ceiling closer, and so surely it must be crashing down upon us and the floor raisers must be stopped.

I used to be really interested in generative animation, but it seems like all anyone cares about these days is realism :( I miss the days when the "AI aesthetic" described a positive feature of the medium rather than a flaw people were trying to avoid.
