It seems really hard to call something a fare gate "pilot" if we're already going ahead and redesigning every future station that's currently in planning and design.

The two main differences between Tewolde's race and Sabio-Howell's: Tewolde got the Stranger endorsement, and Sabio-Howell's opponent actually campaigned. Will be interesting to see how this result wakes up the Tomiko-Santos campaign.

Notably, Wilson had not joined King County Executive Girmay Zahilay in endorsing Kelabe Tewolde, who is giving Sharon Tomiko-Santos a real challenge in the 37th.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Scully did very well on the King County side of this district, as a longtime Shoreline CM, and much less well in Snohomish County. Meanwhile voters didn't have much interest in either of the two Edmonds Councilmembers (Chen and Nand) who were running.

I’m all for holding elected officials accountable, but this is just silly commentary from The Seattle Times. All I’ve gathered from this morning’s paper is that The Times really dislikes Katie Wilson and income taxes on the über-wealthy.

Seattle Fire also just responded to a driver hitting someone on a bike at 59th and Roosevelt. The person who was hit was transported to the hospital.

This story is fine, but the headline the Seattle Times chose implies that a new bus lane is forcing drivers to just "find a new" route to I-5. No, the engineering project actually includes a new route to I-5. Anything to make it look like a progressive mayor is causing chaos, I guess?

The Yale slip lane is now permanently closed, with Boren handling all I-5 traffic! We had a great time meeting the SDOT crew and can't wait to see the improvements this will bring for the L8! We'll head back down later today to share some more photos after everything is fully installed.

I always forget city council District 7 includes a fair chunk of First Hill. Can you imagine having a CM representing Queen Anne and Magnolia who lives in First Hill?

KUOW relies heavily on Seattle's independent media ecosystem for guests and stories and this belittling is very disturbing to me.

The emergency response to Spokane fires has been exemplary and heroic. We also need to remember this isn’t the limit of our ability to reduce wildfire risk. After 100 years of strict fire suppression, millions of acres of WA forest need fuel reduction treatments like prescribed fire & thinning.

Here’s the thing that frightens me. Everyone executed their roles almost perfectly in the response to these fires and it was still this bad. Everyone. Responders, city, county and fed officials. Detection and warning systems. Everyone did their jobs very well. This was a best case outcome.
