Precisely the reason I present myself the same whether it be on stream, here on Bluesky, or in my own discord servers. Brands will check everywhere to make sure you're the right fit, so make it a point to be your best in all your spaces. In essence, be excellent to each other and don't be a dick ☕

Streamers, big and small, your videos/streams might align with brand's vibe, but your social media presence can affect outreach as well. You don't have to be perfect but many PR/marketing will quickly not contact you if you're rude or cruel and the word does spread in this industry.

A orange and white cat, their ears pulled back a bit, wearing sunglasses while lounging on an old blue couch. the words "fuck your bad vibes bro" are across the middle in red, yellow, orange, and purple text.

I'm tapping the sign REALLY hard here. You're cheating yourself out of an actual community and it's nothing more than an active lie you have to keep up to trick everyone, including PR/marketers. We see those trends, those weird numbers, things not adding up. It's not hard to put 2+2 together.

I'm really asking streamers and content creators to not buy followers and viewers. It doesn't help you, it won't help you, and when marketing goes to dig into your numbers, they're going to notice strange patterns. Maybe you can fool people for a bit but it'll come to light in the end. Just don't.

Exactly this, to add to the counterpoint. Folks need to stop forgiving or outright forgetting this was the case. E33 is NOT an indie darling, it did NOT set new precedent for the industry, and if it DID set any precedent it was you can use GenAI and get rewarded for it. So yeah, less games like that

Counterpoint: We need less games like Clair Obscur, where devs chose intentionally to include generative AI then lie about it and get away with it because uwu smol bean baby devs despite being some of the most experienced people in the industry.

If anyone uses Stripe to get payments, go to your Settings (Gear icon) > Plans and Fees > Radar (View plan details) > View Plans > Scroll to "More Options" and select "Lite" I want none of the money I earn to go to AI if I can help it.

nice, now Stripe is auto-opting people into a nickel charge per transaction for "AI-enhanced" protection shit they never asked for you can change it back to their free "Lite" version, but the fact that it's opt-out by default is so fucking annoying

For all the blustering of "companies aren't your friends", too many are still defending studios and games that use genAi. Take your own advice and step away from the discussion if you can't say no to that stolen, destructive slop. Don't be surprised when people call you a hypocrite if you do.

If you're forgiving one company for using genAi but not another, you're just a hypocrite. Full stop. Doesn't matter the size of the company or how good the game is, you don't accept ANY of it.
