I turned 38 years old today and put up a stuffed animal hammock in my bedroom. 😂

I'm finally in my first session of a new d&d campaign in forever! So far I have given my new party a fake name, lied about my ability to break curses, and helped the heartbroken cleric by taking them to get drunk. #ImHelping
The Odyssey criticism debate controversy discourse thing is extremely baffling to me because I feel like I see people dissing Nolan's movies all the time? Is that... is that not allowed? Or is it just not allowed if you're critiquing specific aspects of them and not others?
I, uh... I gotta admit, even Ray Bradbury might not have come up with something like this.
For me at least, the two things I don't want a giant robot centaur with horns to do are hold a chainsaw and stare menacingly at me through a door.
#OTD 1 year ago: The M8.8 Kamchatka earthquake put WA under a tsunami advisory for 18+ hours. While it did no damage in WA, the next distant tsunami could! You won’t feel ground shaking to warn you a distant tsunami is on the way. Learn more about official alerts mil.wa.gov/alerts#tsunami #wawx
Love the casual ableism of grocery stores no longer providing bag options that have handles. Thanks guys. Super helpful. 😌
I've gone past "it's unhealthy to constantly worry about disappointing other people" and am now flirting with "maybe other people should be worried about disappointing ME."

I entered college with the intention of double majoring in English and Education. Took one geoscience class my freshman year (Geology of the National Parks iirc) and the rest is history. Rocks are fucking cool. 🌋🤷❤️
Someone recently made a quip that, “if you’ve seen one rock, you’ve seen them all”. It was a joke, I guess, aimed in my direction and geologists more generally. Although I think the rock-centric way geology sometimes sells itself is foolish…this person couldn’t be more wrong…[1/2]
Now is a good time to explore OPT IN systems to get phone and email alerts from your local emergency management agency and first responders in case of a crisis, critical road closures or more. Find the places where you live, work and travel here: mil.wa.gov/alerts#local
Having just come off of a two week activation in the state EOC for wildfire season, can I just say WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?? I guess we're really just saying the worst racism with our whole chests these days, huh.
NEW — A WA House candidate claimed the Colville Tribes have an “incentive” to have more wildfires because they get reimbursed by FEMA. The tribes have called his claims “complete nonsense.” More: www.spokesman.com/stories/2026...
Is 12,000 words a little or a lot. Probably average, right?
I don't know how long a submitted book chapter typically is and at this point I'm too afraid to ask (because I still have more to say).
And traumatize me it did. 😌 But it has a special place in my heart for this reason. I just... won't ever wear my hair that long again.
Just got home from watching The Ring at the theater with my sister, and goddamn that movie has not lost one bit of its bite. I first showed it to her when she was little, specifically to traumatize her, as is the sacred duty of an older sibling.

I'm really sorry about this, guys, but I've had several minor inconveniences this morning and I'm afraid I'm going to have to murder everyone on Earth. 😔
Do not adopt from Tacoma Humane. Do not surrender an animal to them. Do not take a stray or feral animal to them. Do not volunteer for them. Do not give them your money. They need to be shut down. They are grossly negligent and getting animals killed on a massive scale.
Local gossip was the attacking dogs had been recently adopted out by the Tacoma Humane Society, which also has this recent attack at an adoption event, where a bully mix up for adoption attacked and killed a passing toy poodle.
Just learned Sam Neil died. He was my very first crush ever, as Dr. Grant, when I was just a wee babe. What a fantastic actor.

Warriors is so dark & violent, I wasn't expecting that. Murder, betrayal, abandonment of kits, 🙀😿 And the intra- and inter-clan dynamics are complex and touch on racism, religion, adoption, blended families, etc!
People like this seem to have never dipped a toe into animal fiction, a genre almost exclusively assumed to be for children. I had to stop reading the Warriors series AS AN ADULT because it got too fucking dark and sad for me. And how about Watership Down? Tailchaser's Song? The Wild Road?
As far as "books for kids" go I do sometimes wonder if the existence of a YA shelf robs young folks of the joys of early unsupervised exposure to the ranting of depraved communists and libertarian sex-weirdos in the SFF section, an important inoculation when it doesn't destroy 3-10 years of yr life

A lot of emergency managers happen to be Leos. I'm just sayin. 🤷
Leo: You seem very comfortable being a recurring character wherever there’s a calamity taking place.
"Oh, I know from personal experience this man was capable of great compassion, wisdom and empathy even though he never chose to demonstrate any of these qualities when doing his very important job that impacts millions of people." That's worse, right? You get how that's worse?
You know, this might sound crazy, but... I don't think digging haphazardly at my big toe with a dirty cuticle trimmer helped my ingrown nail situation. In fact - and this is really going to sound wild - I think it might have made it worse??
Now that I'm no longer stressed about finishing my speech, I feel comfortable saying that I'll be talking briefly at Tacoma Pride on Saturday! Like, super briefly, but still, it's not often I get to talk about disasters and being queer at the same time. 🌋🏳️🌈🌊
I just rediscovered this picture last weekend of my own tough biker dad playing seesaw on a piece of driftwood with a young me and one of my best friends.
back when i worked at petco i would always say "goodbye [dog name]!" in a sweet voice and one day i did this for a big biker lookin guy walking away with his pomeranian and he turned around and walked back very serious and stopped and (gently) grabbed that dogs paw and made her wave goodbye to me
Hey geo/EM nerds, which of you are located in the Berkeley, CA area? I know I've got a lot of friends in California but I'll be honest, it's a big state and I don't remember where y'all live. But I'll be there in October and would love to see you! 👀
Ooh boy, I don't know what horrible new things y'all are talking about on here but I'm thinking I also don't want to know! Sounds like a good day to avoid social media and focus on planning my new D&D character.
