No better example of how deliberative democracy is a crap model for social change than what has happened to trans people in the UK. Every argument won or criticism countered. But what tipped the balance was middle class white people deciding they weren't actually bigoted thank you very much.

Channel 4's approach to reporting on the Russell Brand trial is pretty gross. Referring to evidence as 'graphic' as though that is more important than 'horrific'. Pouring over pointless details about what he's wearing or victims crying. Very grim sign of the journalistic times.
Striking how ideologically-captured the BBC has become when looking at its reporting on trans hospital changes, and just how much heavy lifting 'biological sex' is doing. Explaining that a woman with a vulva, breasts, and typically female hormone profile should be put on a men's ward? Difficult...
Anyone else see those two fighter jets circling above Norwich?
Young teen just asked me to buy him a vape because he couldn't get served. I said cigarettes or nothing. He walked off. Kids these days really are more ungrateful.
Fortunately, some publications are starting to reveal the truth about the anti-trans campaigning that Reem Alselem is doing (ab)using her privileged position as a UN Special Rapporteur. But the UK mainstream media continue to promote her blatant bigotry! 😖 👉🏻 www.thenation.com/article/soci...
Divest from Harry Potter and JKR, y'all. It's okay to feel sad about no longer engaging with something that meant a lot to you, but a fictional world that funds a very real assault on trans rights will never be more meaningful than caring about the safety of trans folks.
Welcome to #TransTuesday! There is NO ethical consumption of Harry Potter Not the books, movies, or tv show. Not licensed games or merch. Not fanfic. Not even pirated. EVERY bit keeps the franchise alive and enables JKR's transphobia If you truly care about trans people, you need to let it die
The BBC is institutionally transphobic! 😣
Bethany wore a “Protect The Dolls” t-shirt during rehearsals. The BBC posted it on their socials then quietly deleted and reposted it without showing her from the front. On TV last night they actually blurred the message #Strictly

Given that surveyors have existed for hundreds of years, and property surveys are produced in their millions each year, and they typically recommend getting a range of quotes from contractors, it is AMAZING how many contractors act like they have never heard of any of that.
Was trying to enjoy Wayward, but the writing turned to shit in episode 5. Might bin it off.
Seems to be only one showing of Naza in Norwich (as far as I can see). Anyone know why the distribution would be so limited? I mean I don't think it was shot only on film instead of digital.
As hospitals across the country cave to the Trump administration’s threats to cut federal funding and abandon trans youth, actor Elliot Page speaks out. In New York City, NYU Langone, Mount Sinai, and NewYork-Presbyterian abruptly ended care for trans kids in response to these threats.

Lucky me! I got to interview our cover star, Patti Harrison, for the @wired.com women's issue. Not only is she hilarious, but she also has very sharp views about tech, social media, and where it's all going wrong. She even invokes DARPA! A woman after my own heart.

Just thought of a part of toxic masculinity that I haven't seen commentary on! Boys and men who think their voice isn't something they need to work on, and make engaging and inviting for other people. Instead just make monotone fog-horn conversation all on one note. Play with your voices lads!
