I remember seeing the movie in the theater and making fun of this scene. I will now readily, happily, full-throatedly say that teenage Phil was a jerk and he should shut the hell up. This scene is magnificent, and the music is *perfect*. Everything here tells exactly the story it needs to.

We’re not in the habit of recognizing celebrity deaths here at 925. That said, Dolly Parton is a national treasure and some folks here joke that Dolly is our Locals patron saint. After all her song “9 to 5” is our anthem. Today we remember all the love and kindness Dolly brought the world.
The Library is devastated to learn of the passing of Dolly Parton, a music legend and titan of children's literacy. Her Imagination Library program has earned multiple Library Literacy Awards and, in 2018, she visited us to donate its 100 millionth book to our collection and host a story time. 🦋❤️
As with American culture, Dolly sought to represent the best of what southern culture can be, in defiance of the no-good peckerwood assholes who try to define it at its worst
Dolly was internationally beloved but her death hits Tennesseans differently: she was one of us. I will be wearing black and sitting redneck shiva the rest of the week. Good night, sweet Queen.
I think the universal grieving comes in no small part from the fact she represented the best of what America could be, and that she never stopped chasing that ideal, artistically and socially

Hell, Democrats should use the enabling language of the 13th Am to say underrepresentation of Black people is one of the badges and incidences of slavery and refuse to seat any Congressional delegation that doesn't reflect the ethnic makeup of its state. Pack the Court so SCOTUS upholds it.
