Climate change is (obviously) a public health emergency. We wrote to the Labour party in 2020 to make this case. The UK government should be working to prevent and mitigate the effects of climate change on all of us.

Doctors declare climate change a public health emergency

The UK’s oldest medical trade union has sent an open letter to the four Labour party leadership contenders, demanding they recognise climate change as a public health emergency.  Doctors in Un…

The shift to a privatised 'Plan B' option for NHS General Practice "would undermine the foundation of the National Health Service in England and would exacerbate health inequalities", say MPs. An early day motion opposing any such move is gaining signatures👇

Giver and taker firms have donated £47m to political parties over 25 years. 💰 These same companies went on to score £60 BILLION in public contracts since 2015. This is everything people hate about politics. Ban firms from getting contracts with Governments they pay to elect.

MPs from different parties joined us on Tuesday as part of our drop-in session for the amendment to the 'Representation of the People Bill' proposed by @neilduncanjordan.bsky.social around 'breaking the link' between donors and contractors. Party donors should not receive government contracts.

Great to get some press today on this important survey - which will predictably and disappointingly get very little airtime. Streeting hasn't mentioned it once today... But we will.

Too many Poole families face the worst of both worlds. Low wages and sky-high housing costs. Local Housing Allowance is meant to bridge the gap. But it’s been frozen while rents keep rising. We need higher wages and a safety net that works - so no one is left behind.

We could have made a deal to avoid this strike action, but the government moved the goalposts on pay at the last minute and then removed the offer of 1000s of much needed training posts. Dr Emma Runswick on BBC Breakfast today talking about how we need a deal that is good for doctors and patients.

Do you ever start writing a post, realise you can't sufficiently put into words the level of hurt, anger and injustice you feel, and then abandon it? That's how I feel about the government's attitude towards our Residents. 2020 anyone?? I am so done. share.google/SEsg1BoHyvz1...

Resident doctors lose jobs package and will strike next week

The medics will strike for six days from 7 April, just after the Easter bank holiday weekend. It will be their 15th walkout since 2023.

I’m campaigning to stop political donors getting Government contracts. 14 million people went hungry last year, we owe it to them to ensure decisions are made in the public interest. Cosy relationships with vested interests undermine trust in politics. Time to break the link.

All power to their collective elbows. All NHS staff have been treated appallingly for over a decade - including being shamefully abandoned after 2020. Nothing will change for staff OR patients without them taking a stand. I will ALWAYS be proud to stand beside them. @bma.org.uk
