@bcantrill.bsky.social My own experience with Sun in 1987: I worked for a small semiconductor design house. Our lead designer needed color graphs in order to visualize Spice simulations. Sun had a lock on semiconductor engineering computers, both workstations and servers.

@mccool.bsky.social Hey, when you look at Colin Simmons of TX, please chk out his off-field life. Great guy. TX has a DT Justus Terry, 2nd year, that is looking incredible. The Horns WR Cam Colman might be the most productive WR in college this year, given the rest of the offense around him.
@mccool.bsky.social I tried using ChatGPT to create a mock draft for the '26 NFL draft. The first 3 picks were Arch Manning, Carson Beck and Qwinn Ewers. Really? Also, at the supermarket, I saw a copy of the USA Today '26 draft guide for $15 at the checkout rack.
@mccool.bsky.social Hey Landon, I previously asked about whether the Boys made a mistake tagging Pickens. I thought they should have tried to sign him during the season last year, but I didn't know the number was going to be ~$40M. I wonder if they could have fixed the defense during FA
@rjochoa.bsky.social Hypothetical question? What is the Boys let Pickens go this spring instead of the tag? Would they be better off? $28M extra on cap to fill holes on defense in FA, freedom to draft BPA at 12, even a WR, #3 comp pick in '27. But Jerry loses the circus act this summer .
@jeffcavanaugh.bsky.social Jeff, I hope the leg is doing well. I'm lucky that my broke knee is the left, I can always drive a car (w/o a clutch). My hypothetical question is about Pickens. Would the Boys be better off had they not tagged him?
@mccool.bsky.social George Pickens hypothetical question: Would the Boys be better off had they let George leave? They probably get a 3rd round pick in '27. They free up ~$28M in this year's cap that could have been used to solidify all the holes on defense with avg players, freeing them up to
@mccool.bsky.social Hey Landon, a question for the podcast. My opinion is that sacks are way overrated. I think pressures are more important as a stat. Some sacks are luck, I think pressures are a much better indicator of a good defense. Some players get a ton of pressures, but not so many sacks.
@mccool.bsky.social A while back, I decided that the Boys defensive roster was too weak to fix in 1 year. They do have a limited budget. I think they were looking to fix the entire defense now, didn't budget enough to compete for specific players. They should have focused on fewer players.
@mccool.bsky.social Have you looked at Trey Moore, LB/Edge from Texas? I think he might be a fit in the 4th or 5th.
@jeffcavanaugh.bsky.social Y’all doing a live show for the draft? I really miss the old show with you, BB, Dane, Hellman, etc.
@mccool.bsky.social Hey Landon, I'm spending a good bit of time on the upcoming draft, y'all, Dane, Broaddus, Jeff, Voch, etc. One thing I noticed is that at least so far, no mention of character issues (that I've heard). Before, the college teams invested 1/85 of their budget in each player.
@mccool.bsky.social I want a DC with experience working in several schemes. Flus had a couple of years under Rob Ryan, a 3-4 defense, and I use the term defense as a kindness. Then it was years under Kiffen/Marinelli. After that, it was his own.
@mccool.bsky.social Hey Landon, RE: the need for the Boys to lose vs Giants. The Giants dropped from 2nd to 5th. As a division rival, the draft value chart I looked at has the Giants giving away ~900 points just in the change in first round picks. That is a good starter, late 1 or early 2 pick.
@mccool.bsky.social Hey Landon, thanks to you and Marcus for another season. The world is so full of crap, especially Cowboys related, y'all are one of the few places that don't spew BS for clicks.
@mccool.bsky.social Didn't have a dog in the race, but I watched Army vs Navy today. One of the best football games I've seen in years. Old school, like when I played, both sides ran the ball. Both sides ran sort of a Wing T scheme, but with a modern shotgun formation. Lots of QB runs. Great!
@byjacobward.bsky.social I’m watching the recent video on TWIT where you discuss the advantages Google has over OpenAI and Meta. I would add that Google isn’t totally reliant on NVIDIA, they use their own chips to some extent. NVIDIA has about 50% net profit, so Google has a major cost advantage.
@scripting.com Hey Dave, I have a question about an RSS feed for a podcast. Evidently I'm not smart enough to find the answer with a search. In the RSS file I'm looking at, following the actual audio file's name ending in '.mp3', this is part of the string: '?updated=1759323956'.
@johnowning.bsky.social A lot of fans, including me, love seeing motion. But it comes with negatives, like to see a discussion of the downside of pre-snap motion.
@davehelman.bsky.social Listening to the latest Football Show podcast. I limit my time to the local Cowboys guys, Broaddus, Jeffrey, etc., I get my league news from Robert. Great to see you back with well prepared professionals. To me, Fox is like the Eagles.
@edzitron.com Just ran across your article "OpenAI Is A Systemic Risk...". Seems crazy to me that companies would shift their business model to AI, away from skilled employees, when their AI provider is losing money hand over fist.
@mccool.bsky.social I agree with the part about Landry being past his sell by date. Loved the guy, but I watched them play the '85 Bears. He trotted out the same offense, which failed miserably, instead of spreading the field to get the Bears our of the '46. Jerry failed the firing process though.
@mccool.bsky.social I watched Dandy Don, he was better than Romo/Dak. HIs passes to Bullet Bob Hayes changed the game. Morton took two teams to the Super Bowl, Boys and Broncos, have to rate him better than Romo/Dak. Morton was immobile, but had a cannon.
@davidly.bsky.social Just ran across your dos_compilers collection at GitHub. Very cool to have all these in one place. Have you considered adding the Small C compiler? Its a bit limited, but there is a book, software tools (text processing), several magazine articles, etc.
@stefanmilo.bsky.social Hey Stefan, love the videos, especially the ones with the dog guy David. I have a couple of suggested videos I'd like to see, what we know about early shelters, early fire starting, water storage. Thx
@mccool.bsky.social Which is better, watching a Jerry Jones interview or watching one of the Bigfoot as a content creator AI videos on YouTube?
@mccool.bsky.social My guess is that CeeDee is happy to see targets cut ~33% because of Pickens. I think he’d get worn out with the huge number of targets previously. Now, I think there’s a better chance of CeeDee getting another bite of the apple.
@gruber.foo The question Craig/Joz should have been asked about Siri: What is the accuracy required for Siri using AI to make changes to Calendar, Reminders, etc.? I think it's extremely high, like 99.9999%. I'm note sure that's possible.
@dh44.bsky.social I had to explain to wife why I'm so excited Rogers is a Steelers. Steelers beat Boys in 2 Super Bowls in the 70s. They deserve each other. Also, Landry went to 7 NFC Championship games in 70s, won 5, won 2 Super Bowls. Now, we get to watch Jerry on TV. 😂
