I just caught on the episode of The Besties with @jacobgeller.com and now i can't get this image out of my head:

That Jacobin review of The Odyssey is shockingly bad.
is there any accounts or histories written down about how divergent GPU programming has become from CPU-centric programming? My time in HLSL has me re-reeling from all the shader-specific lingo.
(1/12) A short thread based our (@copperkeerthi.bsky.social and me) base on our talk for #GenerationAnalog2026 GREEN "Performing the Dungeon"
this is like the literal opposite of true. the most fruitful eras of the modern democratic party coincided with periods where the walls separating political radicals from the mainstream were way less solid
Democrats became great by fighting the far left—and today’s party can learn crucial lessons from those battles, David Brooks argues:
Very excited to say @jmalazita.bsky.social and I have a chapter in this. Really fun to both work the research in context of the book and collaborate with Jim. Excited to finally share it with folks!
Very pleased to announce the publication of Game Engine Culture(s) by Mimesis International, a collection I have co-edited with my friends and colleagues Matteo Bittanti and Valentino Catricalà milanmachinimafestival.org/game-engine-...

So I finally got to play around with Reflection in C++26. It's very cool tech and huge congrats to all the folks who worked on it. That said, I now get why people complain about C++ templates; they really just killed all of the fun of programming for me. Just the worst stack traced I've ever seen.
Wildly disagree with this, I’m sorry. Console makers subsidize hardware so they can extract rent. An open computer is different because it can be used for anything and if they started taking that on the chin they would get people just trying to buy a computer. The Mac Mini is a good example here.
If they wanted open systems to flourish they SHOULD subsidize the hardware for the open system they’re selling, making it harder for closed systems to compete in the market. Instead they just shrugged and came up with a BS excuse.

in praise of stable UIs: for _reasons_ i have recently gotten back into using Ableton and Emacs after a 10 year hiatus. its only taken about a week to catch up/relearn how to use them because those apps have such a stable user interface.
My book, "The Middle Ages in Computer Games" is out in paperback tomorrow (2 Jun). If you've been waiting to get hold of it, now could be a good time! boydellandbrewer.com/book/the-mid...
NYC: the city of everything - regardless of price - somehow being $20.
I, for research, was poking my head back into Lisps and am so sad to see what's happened in the Racket community since I was programming in it back in 2017. Really love group of folks that are structurally bound to a really awful central figure/language creator.
Some notes after spending the week getting back into emacs: - package management has gotten really good. - lisp is still good (though elisp is questionable) - my pinky is already back to being claw-like

Between having to mention that students I teach are nostalgic for the xbox360 at a conference and learning that one of my favorite video game reviewers is retiring because of carpal tunnel has made me feel suddenly very old.
I think Titanium Court (by @apthomson.bsky.social) is going to be an example in most game dev classes I teach moving forward. Great example for mechanical design, art, economy of reuse, and what unique writing does for/to a game. Also thank you @plante.bsky.social for putting it on my radar.
