I can't say for sure because I was a child at the time, but I feel like this is a product of the Napster era. The decoupling of music acquisition from physical objects, followed by the draconian overreaction of major labels, broke people's brains about how professional art works under capitalism.

Judging by people's reactions over the years when I tell them my age, I feel like I've looked 30 since I was around 20, and that hasn't really changed much as I've aged past it. One of the advantages of a large beard, I guess.

Becoming a chord inversion truther for fun. There's no such thing as a chord inversion, all chords are heard in relation to their bass notes. If you can't find a good label for the voicing, that's a skill issue. Stuck hearing some abstract "function" that implies another root? Also a skill issue.
I know this is not the biggest concern going these days, but it stresses me out that basically every artist/writer/critic is now expected to create their own tiny empire instead of getting paid by any existing entity to perform a job they've worked to get good at!!!!
