Very happy that my project about "gaming" automated peer review tools has been awarded an NWO XS grant 🤩 🤸‍♀️ We know that peer review is overburdened, so could we use automated tools to help out? ... maybe, but one of the things we still don't know much about is the risk of "gaming" these tools.

To celebrate the openESM paper release, I wrote a brief blog post summarizing recent developments: openesmdata.org/blog/2026-07... We: 💠added more data 💠provided descriptive visualizations for each item 💠created a semantic similarity mapping for items, making it easier to find related items

Updates: Paper published, new dataset & features

Our tutorial paper on openESM has been published, and we have added new datasets and features to the platform.

We're developing alternative ways to shorten questionnaires, given psychology's questionable focus on inter-item correlations. We are looking for datasets: - clinical (mental health) - contains diagnosis - contains long form - contains short form Steep requirements, but maybe someone knows smth?

I'm really excited to share a new preprint! Lab studies have consistently shown that stress and negative emotions make people drink alcohol, but studies of daily life (EMA) keep failing to find it. What does that mean for the shared theoretical prediction both designs test? osf.io/preprints/ps...

I love my research, but the coolest thing is actually talking to young people themselves. Yesterday we had the annual Night University at Tilburg, where we gave an emotion workshop to kids and their parents. Always impressed by what young kids ready know about emotions!

Really happy to see work out from our first #MITNB workshop in 2024! The paper below suggests that people differ widely om how they fill in the PHQ-9. Troubling when it's such a standard instrument to screen for depression... Wanna know more about the consortium? Check it out www.mitnb.org
