Educator, humbled to live within the territories of Katzie First Nation and Kwantlen First Nation. Desperate for a just and joyful Canada.

When I teach my students that systems of oppression hurt us all, this is what I'm talking about. Being steeped in this racist, misogynist, colonial, neoliberal sludge for most of our lives makes us this way. It's bad! We have to actively think otherwise (think DFW's 'This Is Water' speech).

I think there's a case to be made that we should care whether people in power are, in fact, total jerks. In today's video, I muse about exactly that: why isn't empathy treated as a prerequisite to shape public opinion or policy? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Do I think Poilievre cares about labour rights on the whole? Of course not. The man has never shown himself to be concerned about the rights of workers. But I do think it's a reaaaally bad sign when he has better messaging on labour rights than our supposed Liberal Prime Minister.

I'm of two minds about this: 1) This is the exact type of corporate cronyism the NDP should be rallying against; and 2) Singh has put up with so much shit that I've a hard time blaming him for getting that nepotism bag. This is the norm for MPs, so why not for him? Ideally not the norm, but hey...

People are making fun of AOC for having a slight southern accent while speaking in Memphis but they clearly don’t know the pain of habitually and unconsciously imitating the speaking style of the people around you

The number of times the TSN commentary has fumbled Lamine Yamal's name is honestly embarrassing. Kid is one of the biggest stars in the world and they can't say his name correctly smh

Working on a #bcpoli story...

An email from BC Conservative staffer Cosmin Dzsurdzsa that reads: We don’t do interviews with far-left smear outlets that serve as an NDP mouthpiece. The Tyee is literal trash, not journalism.
Thank you for your time,

The constant stream of Ford/Carney propaganda on TSN during the World Cup is starting to get a bit much. I hadn't seen the climate strategy ad before today, and it's just so cynical and deceitful considering the pipeline announcement and the admission that our emissions are going to increase.
