I'm on a work trip at a very (!) nice hotel in rural Ontario, but it is truly the middle of nowhere, and onsite restaurant is closed. I haven't eaten since before I got on my flight in Vancouver ... and now I am simply praying that a nice Uber Eats driver agrees to bring me a burrito 🫠

As someone who's worked remotely from B.C. for a decade, primarily with other people in EST, unlearning the whole "Toronto is 3 hours difference from Vancouver" heuristic is messing with me more than I anticipated.

I had to get a blood test today, and it really was a missed opportunity that all of the lab techs there didn’t dress up as Elizabeth Holmes.

"In You Can See Everything, Holmes claims that there is no reason for her to deceive Fielder. But of course there are reasons for her to lie to him. Her public image and future business prospects depend, to an extent, on the self she presents in the film. The same goes for politicians like Smith.

This summer, I travelled to northeast BC to report on news deserts. What I found was a small but dedicated network of local journalists who continue to tell the stories that matter to their communities — despite the challenges. First in my 5-part series for @thetyee.ca. thetyee.ca/News/2026/10...

Researching for this big report I'm drafting up on the current state of anti-trans movements in Canada for CAHN, and I came across this story. At first I was like "wow, that looks like Xtra art!" And not only is it Xtra art ... I wrote it lmao xtramagazine.com/power/terf-c...

The digital media collapse means many of my stories from my time working at HuffPost Canada and other outlets like Vice are no longer accessible online. But I'm happy to report that I just checked, and my entire Fanfiction.net account that I made almost 20 years ago is still very much online 😌

This week marks 11 years of Hobgoblin in our household, and is therefore her unofficial birthday!! From a strapping young five(ish?) year old my wife adopted from a friend of a friend, to my favourite 16-year-old little old lady 🥹
