One of the 5 daily subfestivals prior to the Elvish New Year involves the current ruler visiting the royal cemetery and perform the prayers of rest. Also, whenever there is a high profile execution, the solemn event requires palace food to be served cold.

#JulyWorldbuilders The night of the Midnight Fire (Feb 22), which occurs in late winter/early spring and is meant to be an "out with the old" sort of day in preparation for spring. At midnight, a giant bonfire is lit in communities and people are encouraged to burn things they need to "let go of"

No writing or art today. I am continuing reading a book and am starting an ARC. From the looks of it, the other ARC I signed up for didn’t select me. Guess because I read multiple genres and don't talk about reviews outside of book review websites. I also am adopting a new cat.

The Elf Kingdom new years happens on the 5 days preceding the summer solstice, the New Year happening on June 21st. It is the 1 day each year anyone (except for the royal guard) can greet the Elf King. It commences a 20 day month where executions of criminals are outlawed.

Hello, #JulyWorldbuilders! Are there equinox or solstice celebrations in your world? How do the seasons work, anyway? In space-based settings, do they use a calendar based on their home planet or is there a galactic/universal calendar everyone has agreed to use?

13. Are there equinox or solstice celebrations in your world?

The background image shows a forest with the sun at a low angle, shining below the canopy. It’s very pretty green and yellow, giving a soft, gentle, warm feeling.

I resonate with this post a lot. Billingual readers will instantly notice my writing is the frankenstein love child mixing up English & Spanish because of how it wired my brain. Takes readers some time to get used to, but for readers that vibe, they do tend to like how I subvert stories.

Your personal style of writing comes from choices your brain makes based on your life experiences. It is this flavor that readers hunt for in new books. You don't want your voice stripped out of your novel. You do want your novel mostly correct with your choices. #writingcommunity #booksky #writer

Yesterday, there was a devastating 7.2 earthquake in Venezuela. Damage seems to be quite severe and there is an overt need of humanitarian assistance. Likely Mexico will send their Topos to help rescue people. In these difficult times, it would be nice to economically support artists.

I am glad to have been granted the chance to translate this dark story by Chilean author V Carvajal Leiva, one of the two longest in the anthology. She has mentioned she might write a second half because it ends in such a gut-wrenching way. 🥲

✨Together is a Distant Star✨ Here’s the opening of THE IRON QUEEN by V Carvajal Leiva A #sapphic dark sci-fi heavy on the anime vibes books2read.com/DistantStar

Been writing quite a lot between yesterday and today. If I had followed the Stephen King rule of writing everyday, I wiuld be burning out and deleting rubbish writing anyways. I am enjoying the words I am adding, giving the haptics book a bit more dynamism with shifting povs.

Even though I am focusing on finishing the final laborious stretch of my Rayearth crosstitch project, I have continued writing my haptics book and making a connection scene logical. Cuse I always love writing about traitorous antagonists. 🤭🤭🤭
