One of the 5 daily subfestivals prior to the Elvish New Year involves the current ruler visiting the royal cemetery and perform the prayers of rest. Also, whenever there is a high profile execution, the solemn event requires palace food to be served cold.

The Elf Kingdom new years happens on the 5 days preceding the summer solstice, the New Year happening on June 21st. It is the 1 day each year anyone (except for the royal guard) can greet the Elf King. It commences a 20 day month where executions of criminals are outlawed.

I have 2 flashback chapters in Fragmented Fates. The first is chapter 1 at the suggestion of a reader when I started writing the book to give context of why everyone is suffering in exile. A second gives more insight and I wrote a 3rd chapter but didn’t include it in the finished book.

I once got a baffling angry guestbook post criticizing my simple Sailor Moon Witches 5 character profiles over 30 years ago.

If you see this, please tell me the worst/most baffling bit of creative feedback you've ever recieved. Mine is still the time somebody told me my aliens had names that were too alien. Not that they were unpronounceable, just that they didn't sound enough like human names.

I resonate with this post a lot. Billingual readers will instantly notice my writing is the frankenstein love child mixing up English & Spanish because of how it wired my brain. Takes readers some time to get used to, but for readers that vibe, they do tend to like how I subvert stories.

Your personal style of writing comes from choices your brain makes based on your life experiences. It is this flavor that readers hunt for in new books. You don't want your voice stripped out of your novel. You do want your novel mostly correct with your choices. #writingcommunity #booksky #writer
