When I made the comparison to Oliver Queen, this is the kind of thing I meant. (Don't get me wrong, I love Ollie, but a parent he was not, and that's kind of how I approach Master as well.)

Oliver Queen, after having hit his teenage ward and thrown him out for doing drugs, thinks "Was it me? Did I somehow fail the kid? I haven't paid him much attention lately! But he shouldn't need attention--at his age! No, I'm innocent of blame-- I've always taught him to be strong... independent! --to hang tough!"

Tonight's headcanons: how Chibodee gets along with each of the gals, and how they get along with each other

Chibodee-Shirley: The only ones who can call each other out. Alike in a fair few ways, for good and ill (though she's rather more openly cynical).

Chibodee-Bunny: Mutual enablers. All the brain cells and impulse control disappear when it's just these two.

Chibodee-Cath: Patching someone up on the regular tends to mean they get more comfortable being vulnerable in front of you. If they're invoking “doctor-patient confidentiality” it often means he's going to her about his sex life.

Chibodee-Janet: She is the most likely of them to overtly sister him, and the first to cheerlead. (She's not naive though. He is allowed nowhere near her car.)

Shirley-Bunny: The biggest schemers and troublemakers when you put them together, and their plans have a decent chance of actually working

Shirley-Cath: The two you want in charge in an emergency. And before Cath was Chibodee's cornerman, she was Shirley's.

Shirley-Janet: Fellow gear heads! Find them tinkering together. Sisters going back the farthest of the group. Janet is Shirley’s morality pet sometimes.

Bunny-Cath: Sometimes they are in perfect harmony, and other times they are a Goofus and Gallant sketch

Bunny-Janet: The girliest duo, at least comparatively speaking. Makeovers and milkshakes and Bunny being a disastrous wingwoman.

Cath-Janet: So naturally affectionate that they were probably the last ones to realize they were dating. Their dynamic can dip into logic vs emotion.

More detail on my trans dude Chibodee agenda

Okay, so, consider this: Chibodee Crockett, pride and joy of Neo-America, is a trans man–

and he thought he ended up with the Queen of Spades appellation because the former Shuffle Alliance or the crest itself or something somehow knew about him, it *knew* and the title was chosen to mock him–

and sometimes he fears that going public could cock up his reputation enough to put his boxing career and his *dream* in jeopardy, because is that the kind of person his country wants repping them on the world stage - will it screw up the shining example narrative they’ve set up - will they still be proud of him?

He knew who he was from a young age; the day he lost his mom, the day they were supposed to go to the colony, was going to be his fresh start living as a boy. But instead he got his start on the street, and had a habit of getting into scrapes with people who didn’t agree (as if a homeless orphan in New York doesn’t have enough issues). Luckily, that taught him damn quick how to defend himself from jerks bigger and stronger and more numerous than him, which of course only helped him on his way up and out.

He was always gonna grow up to be tall and lanky anyway, but he was scouted young, and hadn't totally stopped growing by the time he was able to start T, so he shot up like a weed.

On the one hand, he loves having his shirt off, just because he *can.* On the other, he still leans toward boxy shirts and hasn't kicked the habit of dressing to exaggerate his shoulders. (He also knows he might not be able to get away with some of his fashion choices - hello, bright pink bangs! - if he hadn't hit the passing/stealth lottery. At worst, he gives off a ‘vaguely queer in a rockstar way’ looking vibe. Which… isn't entirely wrong.)

Sure, he's a naturally flirtatious guy, but he has *way* less experience than people assume. He's got enough eyes on him that he can't take chances.

When he first met and took on the girls, he said there was something about them, something in their eyes that reminded him of himself. Obviously he recognized scrappy street urchins when he saw them, and had to give them the chance he got. But there was something else, too - the sense that they'd had to fight to be themselves. He somehow knew Shirley's fight was like his.

The idea of Chibodee being a trans guy just makes so many things about him hit differently. Why he was homeless after the riot instead of sent to other family. Why he vacillates between "dressing like he's trying to hide something" and "showing off as much as possible". His reaction to receiving the Queen of Spades crest. The choice to keep his hair big and long and dye his bangs pink. Why he comes off as open and gregarious but even his closest friends don't know about his past. His Gundam literally having a transformation mode that removes its breastplate to show off its pecs. Honestly, I could keep going.

Fic In A Box is a fanwork exchange with a large minimum gifting requirement and several unique features. Mediums include fic, art, comics, in-universe documents, podfic, vids, knitting charts, and much more. Each minimum is assigned a wordcount equivalent. The assignment minimum is 10,000 words (or equivalent) and can be split up among several works — one 10k work, two 5k words, ten 1k works. Initial assignments are 10k for one recipient, but participants can make requests for swaps to spread that 10k out over multiple assignments for multiple recipients!

During the nominations stage of this event, you can nominate fandoms, relationships, solo characters, worldbuilding tags, and new mediums.

Initially, Yasuhiro Imagawa was brought on board to direct.[3][1] He is credited with coining the word "escaflowne", a Latin-based derivative of the word "escalation", that would be used in the title.[3][1] Imagawa imagined a series that was heavily male-oriented and would feature a shapely heroine and dramatic battles.[1] However, he left the project before production started to direct Mobile Fighter G Gundam.[1] Without a director, the series was put on hold and Kawamori left to work on other projects. After two years, Sunrise revisited the project and brought in relative newcomer Kazuki Akane as the new director.[3][1] To broaden the potential audience, Akane decided to add more girl-oriented elements to the series. The suggestive elements were removed, several of the male characters were given more "beautiful boy" appearances, and the plot element around the tarot cards were added.[3][1] Akane also redesigned Hitomi, taking her from a curvy, air-headed, long-haired girl with glasses to a slim, athletic, short-haired and more intelligent and confident girl.[3][1]
