A Lyrical Forest of Radiant Bullshit

I co-write with my wife, talk about World of Warcraft, and sometimes make things in Blender.

I volunteer at a food bank. The majority of recipents do work, they just don't get a living wage or they take care of family members. Many are elderly. They are always grateful for a small bit of food. It's not right in the richest country in the world.

My "never trust an LLM" story is that once I fed a document to Gemini with a simple request: Give me a list of the names in this document. Gemini confidently spat back a list in which it had made up surnames for both main characters, including the one named in full in the first paragraph.

I know for a fact - because I check these things - that "AI" will give you an inaccurate summation of my work as often as it will get things right, because, all together now, "AI" is an autocomplete, not an actual intelligence. It doesn't read anything. It guesses from its training data.

Cis folks, I know it seems all should know, and this isn't a defense tbc: if you care to, check in with your cis people, esp those not online in the same ways you are, & make sure they know about JK's f*ckery. I've had people not know, and when I told them, they were horrified and joined boycotting.

Grimly fascinating thread: The ultimate aim of the AI boom is to fully automate the surveillance & population control systems for the benefit of the winners of the hereditary orifice lottery. AIs can manage the elimination of revolting/uppity peasants on an extremely cost effective basis.

In the summer of 2013, two esoteric, technical, incredibly important texts were published within weeks of one another: the first is the Snowden leaks, which revealed a system of global, pervasive digital surveillance. 1/

"Eugène Delacroix's painting 'La Liberté guidant le peuple' ('Liberty Leading the People'), depicting the French revolution as a ragtag group of peasants led by a flag-waving, bare-breasted incarnation of 'Liberty.' The painting has been altered: the scene is now being observed with a giant, smoke-shrouded CCTV dome, and the distant building have been replaced with a mainframe computer.

Angry at the protagonist of a book I'm not even reading, because my wife told me about a scene in which Protagonist insists that her talking cat needed to eat veggies in his omelette even though he didn't want them. Let the obligate carnivore eat his bacon and eggs in peace.

"Indies will save us" No! YOU WILL SAVE INDIES! Go leave a review for that neat indie game you like, share the trailer for an upcoming game you're anticipating, tell your fave developer they did a good job, go tell people about such and such game that's just come out, you can make a difference!

The fact that the same Taylor Farms products sold at Walmart are packaged under different names and sold at Whole Foods proves that Jeff Bezos is scamming you into thinking you get superior produce a his far more pricey Whole Foods.

Thanks to Nvidia's own greed and circular financing bullshit, we're now at least three years or more from Windows on ARM becoming viable, and they're the ones who had the most invested in that change to the market! Short term quarter-to-quarter thinking is undercutting Nvidia's long term interest.

Britain’s tiny gaggle of hooting mad elite cranks, who all know each other and relentlessly repeat each other’s idiotic bullshit, are of course not “victims of social contagion”.

A disproportionate number of Gen Z females are affected by vague syndromes and may be victims of social contagion

Why is the blacksmith's table in Valdrakken hidden behind the mining trainer instead of near any of the smiths actually working on anvils? After 3 expacs I've mostly made my peace with crafting tables and then I run into things like this that make me want the profession designers to step on a lego.
