Ok had to call it and delete that post about the min wage convo with my dad. It was getting 100 likes every ten minutes and none were from my followers and that weirds me out. Just didn't want that to go on all night lol.

Mike Lee's SCREEN Act, which heads to Senate Commerce Committee for markup on Wednesday, would expand age verification requirements to a nearly limitless scope of websites, and is supported by the architects of Project 2025.
I didn't expect the post about my dad and min wage to break containment so quickly. So for new followers: I am mainly an ART account. I post dragons and talk about mostly art, life stuff and my cats. I am not here to talk politics, but I will post about them sometimes because that's real life too.
Flying drones in fire zones is not allowed. In a press conference on Aug. 3, Spokane Sheriff John Nowels said drones are simply not allowed and have already interfered with fire operations there. It’s not allowed in other fire zones either. #wawildfire

I really hope this takes off. There needs to be a creative storefront marketplace that actually bans genai and drop shipping, and I hope it's a 100% ban. Etsy is completely ruined and not artist friendly. Much luck to Fybe! fybe.art
Does everyone here know that @craigbrittain.com, who is currently masquerading as an anti-MAGA warrior, was fined in 2016 for operating a revenge porn website? A *lot* of y’all follow him. ⚠️ Marked as unsafe. ⚠️ www.ftc.gov/news-events/...

Surprise #Smaugust 🐉✨ I had this accordion style sketchbook laying around, I felt big Copics itch and decided to jump in. I don't follow any prompt lists and I definitely won't be making these daily but if I can make 2-3 per week I will be very happy! [ #dragon | #art | #sketchbook ]
The Spokane community is really stepping up to look after our friends and neighbors during these devastating fires. Here are just some of the resources available to help. Please share this information with anyone who might need it.
Not just shelter: Where to get free childcare, meals, showers and more as wildfires ravage Spokane
Many agencies and groups are offering free help for people affected by the wildfires raging throughout the Spokane area.

Went on a very short, very easy walk today and I'm very sore from it (falling a couple days ago isn't helping I'm sure). But I got out into nature, even if just a little bit, saw some happy dogs meet each other, some ferns and flowers and cedar trees. It was needed.
A good reminder that Watch Duty is a fire/flood tracking app for the entire US. You can also access it from desktop. Stay safe from fires by following up to date info on activity. app.watchduty.org
Been following the Watch Duty app for Spokane closely. It's awful how much the fires are destroying there and scary how fast some of them have grown. My heart goes out to everyone affected, and I'll keep hoping the fires don't spread any farther
One of the side effects of adopting "block early block often" is having no clue what people are vague posting about most of the time when a new a-hole reappears or pipes up again in the community. I'm curious, sure, but also I'm glad to have this invisible barrier between me and all that.

I feel so out of the loop on the HG stuff so I'll say this instead. It's incredibly infuriating for someone (anyone) supposedly smart to be using the dumb-dumb-make-shit-up machine as a source for anything and then declaring it as fact, as-is. This is how things really go to shit fast.
Man I hate to admit it but this is one reason I don't go to the movie theaters anymore. I like to drink and eat while watching a movie, especially a long one! But if I'm paying 40 GD dollars to see a movie all said and done, I don't want to miss parts. I also don't want a bladder infection.
My complaint about The Odyssey (2026) is that all 3 hour films should legally be required to include a pee break intermission
I’m trying to be better about keeping a habit again of painting a little for myself every day, and I really like today’s tree trunk from the watercolor sketchbook. (if you turn your head, those other ones are yesterday’s tiny landscapes, too)
I need you to stop scrolling and look at this. This is paper art, meticulously cut with an exacto knife in multiple layers and backlit. The originals are phenomenal to see in person! Go to the gallery in Georgetown (Seattle) and see them if you can because the photos don't compare
A quick video tour of "Surface Tension"! It's made of hand cut layered paper and light. That's it, and it's magical. ✨️
Rule of three is also aesthetically pleasing, and it’s enjoyable and/or funny in stories. Often with gags, there are three. Two for the setup and to establish pattern, one for the payoff.
Using lists of three is not an "AI tell." It's a common trait in human writing because our brains biologically want to make sure there's always one thing to marry, one thing to fuck, and one thing to murder.
Decided to play with one of the water brushes and am pretty confident that it's not for me lol. I'd use it if I had nothing else, but I kept accidentally squeezing water out of it and gushing onto the page. I don't do watery-watercolor so I could see myself making a mess with it
You know what's not great to do while still recovering from a spine injury? Fall on your ass. I slipped on the floor getting out of bed to yell at Cedar who was trying to eat my wedding bouquet up on the dresser. A stupid moment, for sure. I think I'm ok but hell that hurt 😩

I've somehow, along the way decided that I'll never make anything the way I truly envision it. Everything I make is always different from how I imagine it no matter what I do. So I try to embrace the shifting sands and accept whatever happens. There's always the option of trying again later.
one of the most frustrating things in artmaking is having an idea/concept you *know* is excellent but you aslo know you don't have the skills required to properly do it justice

Had to take a 10 minute break from prepping dinner because the onion knocked me out! My eyes still hurt when I blink, yeesh.
There are two Pileated woodpeckers in our neighborhood right now and I'm trying to get photos but it's so hard! Had to zoom in as much as my phone would allow from clear across the yard on this but - proof! I desperately want better pics to paint so I hope they stick around for a bit #birds
Here's July's lino print, "Ammonite", inspired by ancient fossils and the stone they're found in. I experimented with two colors to create a more varied striped pattern that rocks sometimes have. Process: www.patreon.com/Kamakru/post...
