As a southerner I love it when other people say y'all. I find it very welcoming. Non-southerners got to be careful with "Bless your heart" though. It's not always pejorative or ironic.

Driving culture has gotten so dangerous that as a pedestrian when I cross the street I not only look both ways, but I place my body between my child and oncoming traffic just in case a driver runs a red light or stop sign. I also am prepared to shove the stroller out of the way.

One of the worst things I learned from RELINQUISHED by @gretchensisson.bsky.social was if you have a baby and an open child welfare case for their older sibling, some social workers encourage you to relinquish the baby to a private adoption agency so that you have a “choice” in how you lose them
