Greetings, Psst, most academics aren't making much money from their book publications. They can't use their royalties. This means we are not popping our collars and purchasing prosecco or NA prosecco. The few scholars who are making bank are not publishing with university/academic presses.

In the context of Black lives, sovereignty means something different because Blackness is borderless and state-agnostic. That means that, to the state, your specific ethnicity doesn't matter. That your skin is black is enough. The state doesn't care if you are jollof Black or mackanchis Black.

Something that keeps happening: I find an amazing article and look up the author who conducted the analyses (distinct from the author who was PI or senior author, BTW), and the vast majority of the time, said author is precariously employed at the institution listed on the publication.
