Faceache reminding me of my only public reading four years ago. During which I attempted a vocal 'impersonation' of P.G. Wodehouse. 😅

Liddle to be celebrated
An honest obituary for Rod Liddle, dead at 66, dead inside for many years before that.

The #BBC were weak as piss in their dealings with #Clarkson. And now we all have to suffer his inane ramblings and a severely diminished national broadcaster: angrysoutherneroopnorth.blogspot.com/2014/10/anot...
say what you like about Rod Liddle
Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.
I will remember Rod Liddle for the fact that the lawyer who checked my book before publication had no issue with me writing that Liddle couldn’t be a teacher because he’d have had sex with the students. Why? Because Liddle wrote it in a national magazine.
I am making it a habit to always look for the labor story behind these nasty scandals. The consumers are almost never the only ones being harmed.
The Diarrhea Lettuce Company Has Been Linked to Forced Labor
The lettuce-producing Taylor Farms was linked to the widespread use of prison labor before its involvement in a cyclospora outbreak.

In the UK context, New Order are as overrated as Depeche Mode are underrated.
Post your hottest music take. Mine is New Order is better than Joy Division.
It’s mad to think all of the events in Zardoz happened 25 years ago.
Compare this to the client #journalism in #cricket. Credit to some, who rightly questioned, debated and opposed #TheHundred (and Bazball). Yet too many couldn’t wait to jump on the money train once they’d sussed the way the wind was blowing, and still parrot shite to sustain it.

“My world, my Earth is a ruin. A planet spoiled by the human species. We multiplied and fought and gobbled until there was nothing left, and then we died. We controlled neither appetite nor violence; we did not adapt. We destroyed ourselves. But we destroyed the world first.” Ursula K Le Guin (1974)
You see everything is connected. The marine heatwaves off the coasts of Europe make heatwaves on land more intense, which in turn dries out vegetation, which then creates perfect fire weather conditions. Brought to you by the world's refusal to drastically reduce the burning of fossil fuels.
Long overdue for The Spectator's Islamophobia to come under the microscope. Excellent piece from Peter Oborne here doing just that. It is now, he writes, just "an upmarket version of GB News" (same owner, of course)
Exposed: The Rabidly Islamophobic Magazine at the Heart of the British Establishment
For almost 200 years, 'The Spectator' stood for civilised, bravely heretical discourse. But a new report reveals how it now spews out anti-Muslim hatred week after week to its upmarket audience

It is late July and this club is confirming to a newspaper that its CEO was dismissed in June? Middlesex is a shambles. And the members (legal owners!) only get told today.
