Western Sahara is not 'disputed', most of the country is occupied by Morocco which invaded its southern neighbour in 1976. Morocco has blocked the UN-run referendum agreed in the 1991 armistice ever since. With support especially from USA & France, and now also from EU and UK. War restarted 2020.
