Hours later, I MIGHT have finished setting up a Minecraft account for my kid? But couldn't test it, because Windows 11 won't let me log out and log in with my kid's new Microsoft credentials. Somebody's not just going to get RICH rebuilding 2009. They're going to be remembered as heroes.

2026 is broken. This is Microsoft, telling me that I have to press and hold a button over and over again, to prove I'm human and confirm my kid's MS Family account. This is on the Edge browser, after the previous step failed on DDG. "You might need a few more tries." Riiiight.

The on screen display says "Let's prove your human" with an inscrutable image, the instructions "Press and hold the button." a button that says "Press and hold" next to an accessibility button that doesn't work, and more text that says "Keep going. You might need a few more tries."

Bummed (and also frankly a little relieved) to hear that Marvel's Wonder Man won't get the second season that was previously announced. It was a minor miracle that the first season concluded on its own terms, without the obligatory Marvel action climax. Maybe it's best that it ends where it does.

A convention wouldn't be complete without an appearance from my "Mark's Comics" T-shirt, merchandise from author Drew Melbourne's book "A Dark Hole Darkly", too weird and wonderful to explain in an alt text but let's call this a deeply-nested meta reference. Picture shows a weary-looking unc in a floppy wizard hat with a grey beard (the unc, not the hat), and wearing a snazzy blue shirt (again, the unc not the hat or the beard) reading "Mark's Comics" if it was all in shot and not backwards because it's a selfie, it's me in the shot, I've been talking this whole time, I'm the one holding the pupa (sorry this is another reference)This year my cosplay was "Dark Wizard Deadpool" or I suppose Edpool, featuring a Deadpool mask with horror elements (mainly teeth and tentacles) as well as a floppy wizard hat and magic staff with crystal ball on the end. Hair and beard all natural. The amazing blue-eyed crow is not related or part of my costume, it was another cosplayer dressed as an 8-foot crow walking behind me in this shot just by chance. Anyway it was a great time.

They call it 'skill regression', and it's very common for late-diagnosed ND adults, because basically when you stop pretending all the stuff that's breaking you is 'Fine, Actually,' and start acknowledging that you can't do it without suffering - from the outside that looks like new limitations.

This thread is SO resonant to me right now. Over the past couple of years as I've explored my own neurodivergence & adjusted my approach to living & socialising, how it LOOKS from the outside is that I've made my life smaller - when I've actually just given myself permission to make it more livable.

It's common for late diagnosed autistic people to find that they can't do some of the things they used to do before diagnosis - they seem to have a drop in function, which to friends & family can make it look as if the diagnosis made them worse. I don't know if I've exactly experienced this, but...
