This is unironically what it's going to be like if even a single DSA backed candidate makes it into the Dem Primaries for 2028

One reason I’m not terribly worried about the Michigan race is this is a very easy slam dunk for Public Health expert El-Sayed to make the general election about. And if he can’t hit that? Well that’s on him.
Mike Illitch would have had Skubal signed to a 10 year $400 million Unlimited Crazy Bread deal after 2024
FIFA has a funny set-up where every country gets exactly one vote which means small countries are way overrepresented and you can hang on to power by promising little giveaways to those countries and their reps. Thankfully no similar system exists in the United States government, that would be bad
Once you understand that this is a model of science written by non-scientists who hate universities but love venture capital and redirecting money to political allies, everything makes a lot more sense. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/22/u...
Trump’s Plan for Science: More Money for A.I., Less for Universities
Michael Kratsios, President Trump’s science adviser, proposed overhauling how the government funds research. Democrats said Mr. Trump’s actions had weakened science.

so UM’s billionaire paypig, the guy who bought UM a $10m qb who might kinda stink to impress his girlfriend, is maybe threatening to rugpull the program if his preferred pro-israel candidate doesn’t win the Michigan US senate seat? do I have that right?
You could find a foul on every corner kick if you VARed it.
ah yep there it is. great work dumbasses
The demand for tests for cyclosporiasis, a pathogen often caused by contaminated fresh produce, is so intense, with so many patients seeking help for diarrhea and crippling abdominal cramps, that many labs can’t keep up.
DAWG WE'RE DOING STATE-RUN GAS PRICES AT PRICE CONTROLLED RATES DESPITE INCREASING SHORTAGES TO PACIFY THE PEOPLE AND THEY'RE SCREAMING ABOUT HOW THEIR OPPONENTS WANT COMMUNISM I AM GOING TO LOSE MY ENTIRE GODDAMN MIND
The White House launched 25 Freedom Fuel gas stations, all selling fuel at $3.47 a gallon.
“Guy with Nazi tattoo now credibly accused of multiple sexual assaults” is a very unsurprising headline “Some thought he would be the future of the party” is, depressingly, also an unsurprising subhead
really cannot be emphasized enough that the drafters of the birthright clause very much considered cases analogous to undocumented immigrants and *included them too*
That's right.
About Trump v. Barbara: Do not give the Court and the CJ credit for reading and upholding the Constitution. It's a travesty that this is not a unanimous decision... it's also a travesty that the Court let this question percolate for a year, giving credence to a crank theory of citizenship.
SCOTUS "kicking puppies vs not kicking them" : 6-3 in favor of kicking "Billionaires should get infinite power vs maybe we should regulate things": 6-3, billionaires "POC are an inferior class vs they are citizens": 5-4, citizens. Kavanaugh concurs in part pretending to be a sober academic
Honestly, I've been scathingly critical of court-packing. Still think it's dangerous. But this court is the best argument for it in a century.
Kavanaugh dissented on that particular point, so for all intents and purposes, the ruling was 5-4 that the Constitution guarantees birthright citizenship. FWIW: I've always been against the concept of expanding SCOTUS. No more, now that 4 of 9 justices ruled that 14A doesn't say what 14A says. 🤨
This is a really clever answer on the filibuster:
Let me tell you why three-time Trump voters say they support me.
Incredible chart from @propublica.org. If you don’t follow enviro stuff closely, your instinct might be that the hold-your-nose solution (carbon capture from fossil fuels) would be the “pragmatic” one versus covering Earth in solar panels, which seems utopian. In fact it’s the opposite
It says a lot that the USMNT lost to this Panama team in Nations League last year.
Michigan Senate candidate Haley Stevens got so drunk at an Asian and Pacific Islander American gala (APIA) that she thought she was at AIPAC.
Austria-Argentina is a top-tier "just to be clear, what exactly did your great-grandfather do for work" game
I'm at a bar in downtown Detroit watching the game before a group Tigers outing but Bluesky is basically telling me I need to rewatch this game on Telemundo to hear Andres Cantor call it
Rebecca: "Chaps, Alexi left us" Zlatan: "Who? Rebecca: "Alexi will be back, Alexi will be back with us very soon" Thierry: "Your plan worked, Rebecca" Rebecca: "Don't you bring me into this, no chance" Zlatan: "America, you're welcome" lmaooooooooooooooooo
