New: In about 10 minutes the Senate should start an initial vote on a continuing resolution. The CR contains a provision that would temporarily (but completely) block OMB's proposal to overhaul federal grants. Our story on that Senate measure and some of the pushback which lead to it:

But maybe the most important point is to recognize that what you learn from a trial and how this knowledge should impact decision making is very context specific, so that concerns for trials of drugs are going to be different from concerns about trials of economic interventions, etc.

Still amazing that the official government policy is universities can't do DEI except for hiring professors whose politics better align with the regime in power.

The medical world has sat in an uncomfortable tension of recognizing that RCTs bring often great quality data, and so wanting to use them as cohort studies, and recognizing that RCT enrollment almost never looks like the average real patient, making them garbage cohort studies
