More people who find reading hard should be told that yes, reading is hard!! There's a reason why we ask parents and carers to read to children from their first day on earth until they get too old to dance on our feet

people have been saying this for 20+ years? I remember in 2003 during my undergrad a lecturer predicted we would have to conscript people into social care, the way demographics and labour are shifting. useless people kmt. they have had decades. they've done fuck all www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

'GPT says **she**...' We wouldn't expect these people to assign any other gender to something doing unpaid and uncredited labour for them, but it always feels like a lot when someone will gender and anthropomorphise the plagiarism machine while disrespecting the humans that it plagiarises.

When the story of why humanity didn't stop climate change is written, it will feature front pages like this. Even as the skies blacken with climate change-induced wildfires, right wing media continue their relentless crusade against measures to tackle it.

The Times: Net zero risks blackouts. Below a photo of French wildfires.

Please stop arguing about the historical accuracy of an adaptation of a book that has a cyclops and a couple of witches and some giants. I’m begging you.

Concept of violent radicalization of a white man in a country like Norway was alien to much of intl. media & spoke to chronic naivete about depths of European racism. When announced suspect was white, CNN refused to believe it. Said it could be “Norwegian Al-Qaeda” or killer was wearing a balaclava.

15 years ago today a white supremacist — opposed to “multiculturalism” and feminism — killed 77 in Norway. When the language of racism and misogyny are normalised as “just words” and “free speech” we wallow in historical ignorance. The line between language and violence is straight and unbroken.

Unchecked capitalism is quite literally killing us all, will lead to the destruction of the only habitat we evolved to live in, along with all the life we coevolved with, and the end of organized global civilization if not human extinction. But go on, keep telling us how socialism is the threat.

I see Labour MPs still announcing stuff on X, a platform specifically designed to make people hate them, 100% shaped to push them out of public life and which would ideally see many of them in prison. Funny old world.
