🧵 1/ NHS England’s Fit for the Future 10-Year Plan is set to transform postgraduate medical education. Flexibility, digital platforms & modular learning sound great, but what’s at stake? @drlkvaughan.bsky.social & I ask some important questions in a new paper in J Roy Soc Med
What's the future for Undergraduate Medical Education in England? @martinmckee.bsky.social and I look at what's in the 10 Year Plan and the implications. We think there is significant risk of the proposals devaluing degrees and the Profession. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

Just off the Leng Review call. Once again it strikes me just how existential the issue of workforce substitution is and what is at stake. The root cause is not enough doctors. Historically, not enough in rural and remote places. With the coming 'Silver Tsunami', not enough 1/
I'm running for Clinical Vice President of the @rcphysicians.bsky.social! Lots of complex issues to grapple with at the moment. I have spent 20 years in the health policy space. Here's a quick tour of the work I have done. 🧵 1/
Time is running out! The survey portion of the Leng Review closes on SUNDAY (30 March). So only a few days to let the Government know what you think about PAs and AAs. Critically important that concerned doctors respond! Link in reply.

I’ve been doing a bit more detective work on what’s been happening to AMUs over the last few years. Focusing particularly on the 17 months from August 2021 to December 2022 when the number of ED >12-hour stays went stratospheric. #rstats #ggplot2 1/4
I'm running for Clinical Vice-President of @rcphysicians.bsky.social! I have a long history of service to the RCP. First as an Invited Services Reviewer in *2009*. Have served almost continuously on various committees since then. Some not very glamorous. 1/
