I thought I would repost this to highlight again some of the many varied symptoms that can be found in #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis / #ChronicFatigueSyndrome Particularly relevant when similarities with the #LongCovid presentation in some people are being missed #MEcfs #CFS #PwLC 1/

Two dead from the US cyclospora outbreak, just in case you had any doubt how dangerous it is. There are now 18,000 confirmed or suspected cases across 45 states. By any standard this would be a scandal but it’s just another metaphor for life under Trump - killer food contaminated with human waste.

70 Ukrainian firefighters and 15 vehicles are helping fight one of France's largest wildfires in 20 years. Under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, Ukraine deployed the largest international team, even as it faces dozens of Russian attacks daily at home. 🔗 euromaidanpress.com/2026/08/04/7...
Donald Trump stands out historically in one way. He has demilitarized the US military more quickly than any other political leader in US history. A full blown pacifist would have struggled to throw away weapons faster than he has.
Obviously a military target. </sarcasm>
Around eight million books were destroyed in Kharkiv yesterday. Many Ukrainians are responding by buying books from the affected publishers and from KnyhoLand, the bookstore chain that also used the warehouse. I bought these today.
I suspect this differs somewhat from the Russian approach to absentee soldiers!
More than 100,000 Ukrainian soldiers have gone AWOL over the war, driven largely by exhaustion Ukraine's answer is a voluntary return program, now expanded to let returning soldiers choose from over 70 units, their direction, position, and commander euromaidanpress.com/2026/08/01/m...
A brilliant insight into what it feels like when your health problem doesn't have a specific label. The 'diagnostic odyssey'.
From @onelife_livedwell on IG: There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from living in the space between knowing something has changed in your body and waiting for the world around you to find language for it. #undiagnosed #undiagnosedillness #invisibleillness #spoonie #chronicillness
Pun of the day! Possibly, ever!!! 👏👏👏👏
He shouldn't have had that UEFA thin mint.
Just gonna go ahead and share this again, 'cause it keeps being annoying relevant.
The phrase "military age men" is designed to be inflammatory and ignores reality. Yes, majority of people making long, dangerous, and often expensive routes to seek asylum are younger men who have the ability to work and earn money to bring over more vulnerable people, mainly women and children. 1/
My suggestion for your next manifesto would be that, to address a long-standing injustice, Cambridge and Oxford should each have only one team on University Challenge. ✊
Here it is. My manifesto for the 2026 Clacton By-Election. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Join me, clean up Clacton and let's make 13th August Bin Day! #VoteBinface #VoteyMcVoteface #YesWeTinCan
Ukraine now strikes Russia's grid, ports, ships and warehouses—the same categories Russia hits in Ukraine. Both call them military targets. Analyst Hans Petter Midttun says the justifications are identical. The legal verdict isn't. euromaidanpress.com/2026/07/29/r...

So you've got a fishpond, & you love eels. Should you put eels in your fishpond? The Fleta, a 13th C. book on English common law, says NO. They'll eat the other fish, then eat each other. Then the remaining ones will just leave overland for a better home. Don't do it, friends. 🗃️🧪

Friends! Do you know a lot of PhD-holding nerds?? I'm surveying people who came from abroad to complete a PhD in the US, after the Trump admin announced student visas will only cover 4 years and folks must then seek uncertain renewal from USCIS. Please share! www.porchpartynews.com/p/trump-rule...
Were you an international student who got an American PhD? Take our survey!
A new Trump rule forces foreign doctoral candidates to apply mid-degree for an uncertain visa extension. What will that mean for academia and society—and people’s lives?

I know this very useful account just reposts Trump’s TruthSocial without adding comment or features, or removing them. I know this and have checked many times. Yet every few weeks I go “come on, that can’t be real”.
Burnham: Social Care is a huge challenge that demands a proper longterm solution. It can be done if parties work together. Most parties: PM is right and we'll work with him for a solution. Tories: PM is right and we'll work with him for a solution. BUT ONLY IF HE CAN DO IT FOR FREE. Grow TF up.
It is extraordinary how it has become a sort of “settled wisdom” these days that Net Zero is an absurd aim, a sign of mad political correctness, and “has got to go”, when our planet is literally burning to death.
You see everything is connected. The marine heatwaves off the coasts of Europe make heatwaves on land more intense, which in turn dries out vegetation, which then creates perfect fire weather conditions. Brought to you by the world's refusal to drastically reduce the burning of fossil fuels.
