Zeke Hausfather@zekehausfather.com · 3d agoI'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.

Presumably he knows this but also knows it will take those voters who want it from Reform and Cons? Obvs there's no financial or environmental upside
Andy Scollick@andyscollick.bsky.social · 5d ago@andyburnham.bsky.social Any new #NorthSea oil & gas exploration and production will take years, be way more expensive than purchasing fossil fuels from Norway and, most significantly, add more CO2 and methane to the atmosphere, adding to devastating climate change impacts. Don't do it.
And use the technique to remove males from the process in the embryo...the way male chicks are killed by the egg industry is horrific

This is a Global North issue. Rich people need to stop eating so much meat and dairy. Cut GN consumption by 85% and the problem pretty much dissappears

Global North problem towards the of the process (I.e. in the shop/restaurant/home). Global South, more so prior to that. Different solutions required. In GN the message in those places above needs to be NO waste. Eat it

Agreed... I was talking about the cold blob in the North Atlantic and just thinking how nuts it is that a) it is there b) no one really knows it's there and c) what it means... and that's just one of about 30 climate (TPs) in play. It's like a slow motion horror film
