This is why supporting Dr Tracy Westerman’s work is so important to me.
I refer readers to Richard Beckett's excellent history of food in Australia, 'Convicted Tastes'. Published in 1984 and still a damned good resource for anyone interested in the subject. Very hard to come by these days, but it's in the National Library in Canberra.
The US also has around 16 to 20% of the world's incarcerated population, in their for profit prisons. Most US manufacturing is done by prison slave labour.
I'd love to credit whoever wrote this. No idea. But I'm 100% with its message. When I think of how the '80s ethos, "Greed is Good" has metastasized, it surprises and depresses me. Imagine having so many millions, hundred of millions, even billions & caring about nothing except your own vanity.
Not a place where I’d like to live Not a place that I’d like to visit either
“When a country with less than five percent of the world's population has nearly half of the world's privately owned guns and makes up nearly a third of the world's mass shootings, it's time to stop saying guns make us safer.” ..(DaShanne Stokes) .. (cartoon David Horsey)

We as nation seem unable to fix it. And for me that’s purely about the will or the conscience to care. Out of regular sight. It’s outrageous.
It’s only Israeli propaganda and they keep posting this well in Hebrew they tell the truth
Benjamin Netanyahu: ‘IDF soldiers are the bravest, most moral, and most slandered soldiers on Earth.’ Israeli occupation soldiers are known for genocide, looting Palestinian homes, shooting starving elderly people, women, and children, and raping Palestinians.
my (67-yr-old) mum just text me this: "Singapore 1988 wearing a costume made from my wedding dress." 🥹 like.. is that or is it not the Australian People's PRINCESS™ ??
Some of you are posting your favourite hamburger places in Australia Where they make real burgers Feel free to create a list here so that Travellers can find them
Do any Australians remember the hamburgers of their youth before the mass produced McDonald’s rubbish arrived? With actual fresh salad inc beetroot, a meat patty made by the business making the hamburgers, real ground beef, fried onion ?
whoppers are still good. as are the burgers at Alfred’s Kitchen in Guildford WA. haven’t changed in 40 years
I routinely stop in Booroowa between Canberra and Wellington for just such a burger. Roadhouse Cafe on your left heading north.
Old Denis seafood on main St, Lithgow. Someone posted it on twitter a few years ago so gave it a go when passing through. Good old fashioned burger.
I wish Ed Husic a speedy recovery. No good at all.
Terrible news about Ed Husic but very relieved he’s let us know that he’s thankful he wasn’t more seriously injured. It still sounds very serious anyway…😕 Take care @edhusicmp.bsky.social 💜🩷❤️
Zucchini fritters are great. Or my simple version is. I grate some zucchini, maybe a cup and a half. Squeeze it dry. Mix it in with plain old all in one pancake mix, add a little garlic powder and just enough water to get it pancake batter thick. Get your pan hot with oil - and make some.

Very low emotional intelligence, and the quality of his intellect is questionable. Clearly, he was “eased through” Yale Law.

www.instagram.com/reel/Dbo5m5D... Very important question which zionist refuses to answer knowing full well the reality of the question underlies the rise in anti zionism rather than the false claims by israel and its lobbyists of a rise in antisemitism
My son was wearing a "Vote Reform" t-shirt and an "I love Nigel" baseball hat. He's been spat at, abused, slapped around the head and told he's a brainless twat. God knows what's going to happen to him once he gets out of the house...
Kind of ironic that the RBA governor mixed up inflation (CPI) and cost-of-living, given the RBA were the ones in 1998 who lobbied to get mortgages taken out of the CPI
Last week the RBA Guv said: "“people who have mortgages … see increases in interest rates as an increase in the cost of living, but it’s not really”. Sorry Michele. But it is. Really. My column www.theguardian.com/business/gro...
Also recall first Mcdonald opening in Adelaide. My then 4 yr old wanted to see Humphrey there. Hectook one bite, walked over to a bin and chucked it out. Proud moment in my whole food parenting.
Trump posting memes of himself as a General when he was too cowardly to serve in our military at all!! That is called "stolen value." It's also called FRAUD.
It isn't particularly exotic, but I simply adore a really sharp cheddar. I like a cheddar so sharp you could open a letter with it.
Folks from the Women's March have been arrested at the Capitol for protesting ICE. Shout out to the women who are putting their lives and livelihoods on the line to get their message out: ABOLISH ICE.
