Funny how the police always seem to brutalise peaceful anti-fascist protestors and ignore/facilitate violence from the far right 🤔 What a weird coincidence, I'm sure there's nothing to examine here 🤷‍♂️

Update: after one cancelled train, one full train and over an hour in delays, I'm finally in Toulouse and in a taxi driven by a madman (complimentary) on my way to the airport. It'll still be touch-and-go, especially with the new EU security requirements...

This is a great example of how AI can be a powerful tool for *very specific* tasks (like detecting ink traces on ancient scrolls), but the real work (like translating and interpreting what's written) needs human expertise.

A lot of media coverage of the ‘AI’ reading of the Herculaneum scrolls really fails to understand what’s happened here. There’s no language processing happening, the AI/ML is not trained on a corpus of texts or language. It can detect ink to see shapes. HUMAN EXPERTS are then transcribing the text.
