The effective federal corporate income tax rate: 1950: 50% 1990: 25% 2020: 13% Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate. That is how we will pay for it.

Marvelous read! Accessible, short and written for anyone and everyone. About actions not words; a future based upon "empathy, freedom, community, and universal human rights." @drtdufresne.bsky.social has a way of making one think in a more necessary than ever honest way. www.mqup.ca/Books/T/The-...

The effects of climate change knows no boundaries. This is in my area of the world — but coming to you, soon. Maybe we try and do something about it??

Only good politics can stop bad emissions. #thefuturebelongstothosewhofight
Good news: We can tell you how much the globe will warm if we continue to burn fossil fuels and emit CO₂ at an alarming rate. Bad news: We’re terrible at telling you how bad the impacts will be, and they’re consistently worse than we predicted.
They’re going to call you a socialist regardless. So be a socialist.
Watching BBC News and they just did 5 minutes with a doctor about how this heatwave is life threatening and the interviewer closed it with "well, it's just an opportunity to have ice cream for breakfast!!". Amazing clip of how the BBC seems just blissfully unaware of what is happening
When reality surpasses fiction! Top: fictional forecast for August 2050, broadcast by French TV in 2014 to warn about the consequences of global warming. Bottom: Real French forecast for yesterday, June 22, 2026.
The 500 richest people on the globe added $336 billion to their fortunes on Monday, bringing their collective net worth to a record $13.3 trillion. Read that back. Our problem isn’t an issue of resources. Our problem is ever-expanding wealth inequality.
For now. But with my students I’ve seen a massive improvement — less unnatural etc. Nowadays I know a lot is AI, but I can’t prove it. In-person is the only way.
In my capacity as journal editor I want to say this: authors you are not doing yourself any favours by using AI to write your manuscript. I am finding convoluted arguments, bizarre language, weird expressions, and dull writing. Using AI to 'improve' your language may be a pathway to rejection.
Reform ain’t gonna cut it. Climate change is a capitalism problem — although you’d barely know it from most climate change books. This one is an exception! ✊🏼
This blew my mind. Some of the largest data centers can require up to 5 million gallons of water per day, equivalent to the water use of 50,000 people. Why are we selling out the survival of our planet to enrich a handful of Big Tech CEOs?
