If you haven't lately (or ever) this would be a great time to re/watch 9 to 5. It's a fantastic film in nearly every way. I would say it's revolutionary, and we sure didn't see that on the screen much in the 80s! I'm seriously so grateful this film was a part of my childhood.

every time a genuinely good person dies the centrist media starts saying bs like "she was just like us, totally neutral" and that is such vile slander of Dolly Parton. she had principles and she fought for them with her whole heart so estranged from the concept of goodness they can't even see it

I've figured out why this hits so hard. The vast, unmeasurable scale of the kindness of Dolly Parton meant that whenever you saw her on TV, or in the cinema, or heard her talking or singing on the radio - wherever you were - you felt seen. Less alone. The world is a darker, lonelier place tonight.

Dolly broke me in early to her raucous self deprecating sense of humor when we began steel magnolias rehearsals  i asked her - how long does it take to do a hair do like yours? Dolly - no idea, i’m never there when they do it! i started taking Dolly-isms notes on the back of my script after that

When I first heard the news I was pretty overwhelmed because I loved her so much, but seeing the outpouring of love and grief over Dolly on social media is actually so comforting. Look at all of us! Millions of people who she touched! We are all so lucky!

my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.
