"if that's the strangest thing you ever seen in your life, I'd say you haven't done much"

Last February, Chris Hayes was talking about slop before it became a buzzword. The MSNBC host and author of "The Sirens' Call" had much to say on how our culture has evolved alongside technology in the age of attention capitalism. 🎧 Listen to the event audio on our podcasts page: buff.ly/LdrQD9l

Senator Wyden's report makes horrible reading, but to be honest it does stick in my throat a bit that the US political and law enforcement assistance did the square root of nothing while Epstein was alive, then turned around after his death to say how dare you let this man have a bank account.

[Previous NY Mayor walking down the street with a giant sack of bread throwing bread left and right on the street] -Its such a plague with all these *pigeons* Pauses to throw some more bread -Its a mystery really. We are quite frankly out of ideas. How could we reduce the number of pigeons

“We’ve recruited a Nazi who is well qualified to teach the police about combating extremism and antisemitism” is maybe the most 2020s British politics sentence I have seen so far this decade

The specific examples of his redeeming qualities I've read today also imply that, had he been a racist and abusive man who was ALSO rude at dinner parties or an ungracious colleague, then maybe some public ire *would* be appropriate. I think it's ok to find that calculus a little back-to-front.

so this is partly true BUT; it is certainly true, as the OP notes, that GM got convicted of monopoly practices around transit systems but I think a people (not the OP) come away from that with the idea (as in Roger Rabbit) that GM was replacing streetcars in the face of broad popularity (cont'd) /

Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.

Eligible pre-IPO investors in SpaceX can sell the first 20% of their stake as of Thursday. SpaceX has a staggered lock-up release schedule to “meter” stock sales but I argue in @alphaville.ft.com this turns the overhang into a prolonged hangover for the stock. SpaceX’s staggered lock-up release prolongs the pain

I'm convinced by the stories people with visual impairments tell about how useful smart glasses are for them, but none of these users seem to depend on being able to record video, which is the main thing that makes them "pervert glasses". Why can't we just regulate that?
