radical social worker, new yorker. sharing info + resources for the disaster era on justice, liberation, mental health, mutual aid, and more.

What I always find funny of the MSM is that when the GOP wins by 1.5% it's a MANDATE TO TRANSFORM GOVERNMENT AND THE ENTIRE CULTURE. When Progressives win by 13 points, it's only a repudiation of certain aspects of the GOP. I know that Dems aren't popular but progressive policies ARE.

everyone jokes about libbing out, but let me say: you can hold a radical politic and still celebrate when positive change happens. tuesday was like rescuing a drowning person. we can be happy they didn’t die. joy is fuel that keeps us going, don’t deny yourself of it because you think it’s cringe.

take your moment to celebrate and then PLEASE. go join a group doing base-building organizing near you. the next fight starts today: we have to hold the feet of democrats to the fire and make all of them understand that the people demand REAL structural change and courage

OK, Dems. IF this is as great a night as we're all hoping it will be you folks are going to have to actually DO THINGS in the next two years like A LOT OF VERY GOOD THINGS please attend the Zohran Mamdani school of GET SHIT DONE FOR PEOPLE over the holidays because you will have ONE SHOT

John Ossoff is a superstar but let’s be clear that he’s picked up (and sprinted like a heartthrob QB ) the political opportunity that Stacey Abrams, LaTosha Brown and other organizers made for them with over a decade of work. Don’t forget that electoral tsunamis aren’t made from mobilization alone.

Moderates repeatedly crossing party lines to endorse and publicly vote for Republicans amidst the most racist and disastrous Republican administration in public memory ought to end the argument that’s it’s the left wing of the party that needs to prove it’s loyalty to the Democratic base.

Josh Turek says he didn't vote for a Democratic ticket, and instead voted republican for several races. And yet trans people are vilified for doing the same to him?

As always, if you're voting in NYC, please vote for Democrats on the Working Families Party line. The @nywfp.bsky.social is great - and voting on that line sends a big message that you want progressive policies, not garbage centrism. (And your vote counts exactly the same!)

It is also extremely clear that GenAI use by white people is interpreted quite differently from GenAI use by Black people When white people use it, it’s a sign of technological competence. When Black people are thought to use it, it’s because of intellectual incompetence.

Chanda Prescod-Weinstein 🌌@chanda.blacksky.app · 3w ago

The epistemic double standard is clear: white men are hailed as heroes for taking up this tool that is built through thieving (It’s never just trained on your voice! Anthropic, Claude’s maker, stole my book and many others!) & Black people are under suspicion of not being capable of doing without it

Also can we stop with the “non White” It’s a Black colleague . It’s very specifically a Black colleague and that is DEEPLY important they want to activate specific social tropes Because when it’s a different person they will be activating different tropes

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

french protests make very clear how much u.s. protests self-restrain and how bizarrely obsessed we are with the fear of being demonized by entities that are demonizing us anyway

I don’t think people understand just how enraged survivors are right now. I don’t think any of these a-holes thought for a second about the fact that a good portion of the population has had their lives derailed by sexual violence. And like Giselle Pelicot, we know the shame isn’t ours to carry.
