Closing 9 issues with a single PR - didn't have that in a long time. This one is for a bunch of cleanup and streamlining of shallow routing (svelte.dev/docs/kit/sha...). It's gonna be part of SvelteKit 3, which is coming along great, prereleases are out on npm already - go try it out!

How I know I had a relaxing two weeks of vacation without access to my work laptop
In retrospect, this argument was always wishful thinking from React apologists - a last redoubt after every other piece of ground (usability, performance, etc) had been lost to better alternatives. If you can't convince people on merit, try to appear inevitable. Good strategy tbh! For a while anyway

Please try this experimental feature. This should bring a big performance improvement, especially for large projects that use Svelte with TypeScript. If there are no major issues, we plan to make this the default in the next major version.

Some background: svelte.config.js was originally created so the VS Code extension knows about the compiler options and - more crucially - the preprocessors. They were very common back then because you e.g. had to use one to get Typescript support in Svelte. Nowadays

The newest version of SvelteKit allows you to configure everything via its Vite plugin, and VS Code, svelte-check and SvelteKit itself can all read from it. On file less cluttering your project root.
