In 2023, I was working with a charity & we did this market to serve food/provide clothes/haircuts for ppl on the DTES. Pete Fry and Ken Sim said they'd come. Pete Fry came, Ken Sim didn't. 2 weeks later, Ken Sim had the homeless people in the park rounded up, their possessions put in garbage cans.

Here's the full video! It's an interesting variant on the "my haters don't know what I've been through" message, and probably evidence that the ABC Vancouver team thinks it's necessary to play up his post-Swagger personality a little bit more

An individual in Canada used ChatGPT for eight months to plan one of the country’s worst mass shootings. Yet, if you listen to politicians and media, the real threat of AI is a fantastical scenario where it might wipe out humans in ten years. They need to stop getting fooled by tech deceivers.

The media has the AI threat all wrong

Generative AI is harming people today. We don’t need to waste time fantasizing about science fictional scenarios.

Bluesky is funny because it's a bunch of people explaining the national shitshow of post-9/11 brain rot to people who are too young to remember but also too young to be on Bluesky. But it's nice to be in good company.

For those arguing the PM plans to learn from the 'mistakes' of the past this is who Carney appointed as principle advisor: “If we really want to end the violence & depravation that plagues Canada’s remote Aboriginal communities, we need to help them leave these communities, forever,” Scott #CDNpoli

Carney’s pick for advisor, Scott Gilmore raising eyebrows

Earlier this month, a number of media sources reported Scott Gilmore would soon be moved into the role of Carneys' principal advisor.

Naturally, it’s being received exactly as expected (and intended)? Gross. The same month as TRC day btw!

One thing I love about heat pumps is how the exterior lineset covers on a retrofit mini split give a bit of a space age Logan's Run vibe. Especially when they're bright white and rounded with those tidy little corner fittings.

Angela Haer, an ABC Park Board commissioner who sat on the board of Kal Dosanjh’s KidsPlay Youth Foundation prior to his arrest and fraud charges, announced she wouldn’t be seeking re-election in a late night social media post. But then it was deleted from most of her socials this morning.

Azaroff gains nothing by losing the election and letting Sim win. I'm trying to figure out what he gains by staying in a couple more days if that's his plan. Maybe he thinks it makes him look like more of a serious candidate and sows left division, letting Sim win so OC can say "we told you so"?

Vancouver, I'll be hosting The People's Primary debates and election at my place. Maybe on an upcoming Saturday. But people need to be chill about it and we start winding things down here around 7. I'll announce the winner before bedtime and we can move on from there.

This isn't my to-do list, but I found it on the ground by Grandview and Lakewood, and it still has a lot of tasks left unchecked. I probably won't research tattoo fonts or draft up a separation agreement, but I'll tackle bikes, taxes, room sort.

Somebody else's to do list

1/ Tonight we mourn the loss of a remarkable leader. Joan Phillip was utterly devoted to making life better — for her neighbours in Vancouver-Strathcona, for Indigenous youth, and for working people across the province.

A picture of Joan Phillip, smiling.

Sorry chatbot lovers but the waning of Boolean operators in most search functions on websites has made my life actively worse. You can't find anything, you can only have things suggested to you.
