Thanks. Yes, that's what I was trying to say, but took too long to get there. Our politics community is strong, and I'd love for us to expand into new communities. Science and sports have already taken off. Birding, gardening, K-pop, we're open to all (except nazis and jerks).

If you want a perfect capsule to demonstrate how completely divorced from reality the broligarchs and their toadies are, look only to the fact that someone thought a winning strategy is to bring a disgraced one-term NYC mayor to Wisconsin to sell angry residents a data center lol

Jessy Edwards@jessyedwards.bsky.social · 2d ago

A video taken Saturday shows former NYC Mayor Eric Adams in sales pitch mode in Wisconsin Rapids, as he's heckled by residents opposed to the data center he's trying to sell them on. "My name is Eric Adams," he begins, as the boos begin to rain down. "You belong in prison!" one attendee shouts.

The overwhelming right wing sentiment is that COVID was an engineered bioweapon that was also harmless. Trump overreacted to it by shutting down the country, then engineered a drive to create a vaccine that was the real bioweapon that killed millions, and it's Joe Biden's fault.

Really interesting story here. You know how the hyperscaler cowboys are powering their data centers with gas turbines? It turns out the demands of AI are not very friendly to those turbines. They're supposed to last 5+ years & instead they're wearing out in under 12 months!

Here's the deal with the pre-review study Tesla funded on turbine carnage. This is my first piece on the Data Centers Breaking Things beat. TLDR; AI training is wearing out, even breaking, a critical source of energy for AI training www.investors.com/news/turbine...

The clean energy industry has embraced AI datacenters because it's an obvious source of revenue for new generation. This is the risk with that strategy: AI datacenters are so disliked, at some point people will start opposing clean energy projects as a way to stop them. Case in point:

1. Two country music legends, Willie Nelson and Tanya Tucker, are speaking out about different pieces of the same enormous industrial buildout in Texas. Tanya Tucker is speaking out against the massive transmission lines crossing private land to accommodate the state’s surging electricity demand.

Enough Odyssey talk. The future of filmmaking is a microdrama inspired by shopper insights from Albertsons and Procter & Gamble following a multigenerational Southern California family as they build a taco business at a taco stand outside of an Albertsons store. digiday.com/media/albert...

Albertsons’ new ‘micro sitcom’ is a big deal for retail media

Albertsons Media Collective has launched its first episodic, scripted branded-entertainment campaign in partnership with Procter & Gamble.

From the "Dept. of Broken Clocks that are Very Occasionally Right" here's Elon Musk calling Exxon "one of the worst companies on Earth" in a private email. I think being treated this way by their fellow oligarchs really burns oil CEOs and it's part of the reason for their recent radicalization.

Even when the media *does* factcheck their claims, the right has realized that if it just says "yes it is" over & over again, long enough, the media will tire or bore of saying "no it isn't."

This validates my grand theory that generative AI is only useful for useless things. Top AI use cases I've seen so far: Outbound marketing emails. Drink special flyers. Scams. Incredibly shitty sports memes.

ChatGPT posters and flyers are polluting real life and driving me insane. Please respond to this with the worst ones you've seen irl. I'll post some in the thread www.404media.co/we-are-livin...

Perfect capper to Neymar’s World Cup career: scoring a consolation stutter penalty then shit talking the Norwegian goalie who was probably the man of the match as Brazil loses 2-1.
