Thank you so much for highlighting our recent work on #Parkinson synuclein SAA, DAT and MRI scans!
Lot of a-syn seeding amplification assay status research today - new imaging report finds positive cases exhibit more dopaminergic deficit, whereas negative cases have more subcortical atrophy across both sporadic & genetic #Parkinsons movementdisorders.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
Honored to share our work on #Parkinsons in the journal Movement Disorders! In sporadic and genetic PD, patients with synuclein SAA+ PD have more striatal DAT deficit relative to atrophy while those with synuclein SAA- PD have more striatal atrophy relative to DAT deficit. doi.org/10.1002/mds....

Hello Bluesky! Welcome to the official Penn ADRD Trajectories, Copathology, and Heterogeneity (PATCH) Lab account for the labs of Drs. Paul Yushkevich, Sandhitsu Das, and David Wolk at the University of Pennsylvania. Stay tuned for updates about our presentations at AAIC25!
youtu.be/gpQ19OPUm34 New integration with nnInteractive (github.com/MIC-DKFZ/nnI...) in ITK-SNAP 4.4.0-alpha2 (itksnap.org) lets you turn scribbles into 3D segmentations in seconds. All thanks to an amazing new model from Fabian Isensee and colleagues at @helmholtzimaging.bsky.social!

🚨Paper alert Very happy to share our last work on #IntrinsicCapacity (IC) in dementia with Lewy bodies #DLB (n=154), compared AD (n=644) 👉DLB patients showed lower IC in all domains (locomotion, vitality, psychology, audition), requiring personalized interventions ! 🔓 shorturl.at/EfrCX

The mimicker of Alzheimer’s disease. Progressive amnestic syndrome with: 1) Hippocampal atrophy 2) Older age ~ 80+ 3) Negative AD biomarkers • Caution with amyloid positivity common with aging • Tau PET ideal but not covered • FDG-PET medial > lateral Temporal hypometabolism = supportive

Thank you for the highlight and example case! With #LewyBody disease, posterior hypometabolism is often more prominent than atrophy. This could be related to changes in neuronal integrity of posterior networks by a-synuclein. academic.oup.com/brain/advance-article/doi/10.1093/brain/awae352/7906681
Hypometabolic mismatch with atrophy and tau pathology in mixed Alzheimer and Lewy body disease
By assessing imaging and CSF biomarkers of amyloid, tau, α-synuclein and neurodegeneration, Duong et al. demonstrate that patients with mixed Alzheimer’s a

This is excellent use of multimodal imaging that is available clinically. Both Alzheimer’s disease and Lewy body disease can involve posterior regions on FDG PET but LBD by itself doesn’t cause significant MRI atrophy. See also example of an MTA co-path case too academic.oup.com/brain/advanc...
