Conservation work is hard. It lurches and retracts and moves incrementally if at all- but it's worth the fight every day.

Nobody reads what I write anyways so: next weekend we're supposed to attend a kids birthday with daycare folks. That family just lost everything in Spokane fires. They want to keep the party for the kids. I'm going to be crying and consoling other parents in the corner at a 4 y/o's party.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🕯️🕯️Spokane: they have not issued level 1 or level 2 evacs yet today. The fire is too fast, all they can do is continue to expand the lvl 3 (go now). If you're N/E of the old trail fire: GET READY. NOW. You won't get notice or prep time

I've been in touch the Colville Tribes' donation center about their priority needs for Kaiser Canyon fire relief. If you're in Spokane and want to help fill my truck today, meet here! Priority needs are: personal hygiene products, diapers and wipes, pet food, NEW underwear (all ages and sizes)

When the forest Service implemented the 10 AM Rule in the 1930s, it was a well-intentioned response built out of ignorance for fire regimes and forest ecosystems. Our current fire severity is heavily informed by decades of that bad policy. Bringing it back now isn't ignorance, it's abject stupidity

Americans broadly and vocally rejected Sen. Mike Lee’s public lands sell off in the OBBA. Now Sen. Daines (MT) is giving him another shot to pillage our lands by nullifying the roadless rule via a bill that'll be heard on 6/10. Here’s what to do about it right now, and what you can say: (1/5)

Obviously, the right's "2A to stop tyranny" has and will always be performative. The question now that tyranny has come and started murdering the lawful left is how those 2A folks will respond. Because comply or die is quickly becoming the binary option being forced onto them.

“When an individual enters their residence, conceals themselves behind a closed door, and attempts to go about their everyday life, they are willfully impeding the important work of law enforcement officers and engaging in domestic terrorism,” said DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin

In a conference this week with executives from across the country- Someone from Minneapolis introduced themselves. He couldn't get through it. He was sad to leave home, heartbroken by what his friends were experiencing, and angry with how poorly and inaccurately the story was being reported.

1/2 Look folks, I work in conservation so I care about the public land sell-off. A lot. And I know plenty of leftist folks who seem alarmed that folks are paying more attention to that than, ya know, everything else horrific happening under this administration. BUT, this is the fight to the wage

Respectfully- kootenai county sheriff's office can stay the fuck on their side of the border, and I expect Spokane police to do the same. we don't want you over here policing our city, anymore than CDA folks want to see us over there. This wasn't appropriate, mutual aid agreement be damned

Spokane mayor "I've been a protestor before" is really something to say when you initiate a crackdown instead of joining your residents protesting ICE in our hometown. If "we belong" in Spokane, you belong on the protest line. Both to keep the peace and show what you'll stand for

Welp, Spokane is officially popping off. A light protest of a couple hundred people, overwhelmingly peaceful was declared an unlawful assembly before police escalated. There's now a curfew in place for much of downtown- hell of a start to Pride and no kings this weekend

Watching Jurassic Park, where a computer nerd with a debt problem and delusions of grandeur tears down all the safety systems, with no understanding of the consequences, so he can better facilitate his planned espionage and theft.

So I'm dropping Meta. And while those platforms are generally hellscape, it's worth being specific too: 1. I have seen an unmoderated rise in hate speech there 2. Just constant ads and garbage 3. I see less content from people I want to hear from 4. My kids deserve better social media than that
