This is sad news. I'll be spending tomorrow peer reviewing a new book by him - and was looking forward to letting him know how great it is. A prolific supporter of comics from all over the world, he'll be greatly missed. 💔

Comics scholar John Lent has sadly passed away. I last communicated with him just a month ago when I finally purchased a subscription to IJOCA. When I traveled to ICAF in 2016 to accept the award named after him he unfortunately couldn't make it to the conference, so I never got to meet him,

Pioneering comics scholar John Lent RIP Dr. John A. Lent passed away today at 2:30 pm from injuries he suffered from a fall at home several days ago. His living will expressed his desire not to have extraordinary measures taken to keep him alive, so he was removed from life support on Thursday. John never regained consciousness after the fall, but his family was with him at the hospital today. John was a few months shy of his 90th birthday, and remained productive up until his accident. I believe he requested cremation rather than burial, but I will provide more details as they become available. IJOCA's blog will have a formal obituary and memorials from his friends and colleagues at some point in the near future.

I Inexpertly Photoshop the 1983 Official Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Toy The Raging Roper into a classical painting until I forget: Day 2 look, we warned you about this, one thing you can never say... that you haven't been told. hope you're happy now

Leonardo Da Vinci's La Gioconda or Mona Lisa, a painting believed to be of Lisa del Giocondo, the wife of wealthy Florentine silk merchant Francesco del Giocondo and one of the most famous and beloved paintings in the world It depicts a woman, sitting serene and upright, looking straight at the viewer. Unfortunately Leonardo's painting has been inexpertly altered here so that instead of a young woman looking at us the painting now features the 1983 Official Advanced Dungeons & Dragons toy, The Raging Roper, who is looking bashfully away from the viewer, somewhat lessening the impact of Da Vinci's masterpiece
