It's a sign of how shockingly corrupt this country has become that a nominee for Attorney General is given a hearing by the Senate *the very same week* he has been referred by a judge for possible disbarment for unethical behavior. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

a glaring omission from much of the convo about the Delaney Hall labor and hunger strike imo is the fact that *these people shouldn't be laboring in the first place* this is slavery, & even the 13th Amendment's 'punishment for a crime' exception doesn't apply! ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...

The Delaney Hall Strike Is Exposing a Massive Thirteenth Amendment Crisis

The Delaney Hall Strike participants haven’t been convicted of anything—and are still being forced to work for nothing.

I am very glad to be able to vote for @ramirez.house.gov - she has consistently stood up for our community in Chicago and beyond over years of local leadership. I'm glad to have a rep in Congress who sees what's happening clearly and uses her role against these evils. We just need more like her.

Rep. Delia Ramirez to DHS officials: "I have as much respect for you as I do for the last white men who put on masks to terrorize communities of color. I have no respect for the inheritors of the Klanhood and the slave patrol. Those activities were criminal and so are yours."

They are literally firing all the judges they think might grant relief. They just fired a friend of mine a couple hours ago. They have no shame. The bastards want an assembly line for deportations and nothing more; rubber-stamping bootlickers who’ll yes’sir at every new diktat to deny.

Instead of hiring more immigration judges, the Department of Justice just posted an ad for "deportation judges." join.justice.gov

This violent CBP agent's Twitter account follows 2 Holocaust deniers (Nick Fuentes and Stew Peters) and 9 accounts associated with InfoWars and its current or former employees. He's likely knee-deep in far-right and antisemitic conspiracy theories.

NEW: Evanston has released video + reports surrounding a 10/31 incident where a CBP agent threatened to shoot people + another beat a handcuffed man. We found some disturbing X posts from one of the feds, also seen in other viral videos. His name is Timothy Donahue, and it's now public record:

"He's gonna pay for those shots," Parente added re: Exum, noting the agent bragged about the shooting. "They were not good shots. You will see, eventually, that that was a bad shoot, it was a violation of CBP's use of force policy, and he is going to pay for those shots" the attorney told press.

THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos. I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

II. Credibility
The Court next addresses the credibility of the parties’ evidence and witnesses. After reviewing all the evidence submitted to the Court and listening to the testimony elicited at the preliminary injunction hearing, during depositions, and in other court proceedings, the Court finds Defendants’ evidence simply not credible. [FN 6]

Plaintiffs submitted a mountain of evidence, providing the Court with over eighty declarations, numerous videos and articles, and other evidence. Defendants did not rebut anything that Plaintiffs set forth in their declarations or testimony, even with BWC footage.

[FN 6] In another case considering some of the same evidence presented to this Court, another court in this district also found that the perceptions of certain of Defendants’ declarants, such as Hott and Parra, were not reliable. See Illinois v. Trump, No. 25-cv-12174, 2025 WL 2886645, at *5 (N.D. Ill. Oct. 10, 2025) (noting a “troubling trend of Defendants’ declarants equating protests with riots and a lack of appreciation for the wide spectrum that exists between citizens who are observing, questioning, and criticizing their government, and those who are obstructing, assaulting, or doing violence”), motion to stay denied in part, 155 F.4th 929 (7th Cir. 2025).

Judge Ellis derides Greg Bovino as a serial fabulist who brazenly lied on the stand and seemingly considered it funny to perjure himself. cst.brightspotcdn.com/49/34/daecfb...

Turning to Bovino, the Court specifically finds his testimony not credible. Bovino
appeared evasive over the three days of his deposition, either providing “cute” responses to
Plaintiffs’ counsel’s questions or outright lying. When shown a video of agents hitting Rev.
Black with pepper balls, Bovino denied seeing a projectile hit Rev. Black in the head. Doc. 191-
3 at 162:21–165:17; Doc. 22-44 (Ex. 44 at 0:10–12, available at
https://spaces.hightail.com/space/ZzXNsei63k). In another video shown to Bovino, he obviously
tackles Scott Blackburn, one of Plaintiffs’ declarants. Doc. 191-3 at 172:13–173:7; Doc. 22-45
(Ex. 45 at 0:19–30, available at https://spaces.hightail.com/space/ZzXNsei63k). But instead of
admitting to using force against Blackburn, Bovino denied it and instead stated that force was
used against him.

Some screenshots from itp_chicago IG. You can see how federal agents stake their presence around some of these communities in intersections in the middle of traffic and sidewalks in front of businesses. This feels very particular to the SW Side with Little Village being a prime target for this.

Federal agents in Chicago are aggressive everywhere but they elevate this in the SW Side. They don’t just snatch people and leave. They linger longer, march down streets with guns, interrupt traffic flows. The attacks feel concerted to instill as much fear & display power over immigrant mhoods.

I am grieving for the families across the city who have been separated today and for the many communities facing this campaign designed to terrorize and abuse our neighbors based on the color of their skin and the places they may have been born. Grateful for local journalists & orgs sharing info.

History rhymes, and we can learn from the cadence.

This poster, which was created and disseminated by abolitionist Theodore Parker, warns black people in Boston to beware of watchmen and police officers, who were legally allowed to act as kidnappers due to the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850.

Text reads: Caution!! Colored people of Boston, one & all, you are hereby respectfully cautioned and advised, to avoid conversing with the watchmen and police officers of Boston, for since the recent order of the mayor & aldermen, they are empowered to act as kidnappers and slave catchers ... Keep a sharp look out for kidnappers, and have top eye open. April 24, 1851

The same Supreme Court that said it is unreasonable to consider race when giving kids access to education, has said it's reasonable to consider race when looking to remove someone from the country. Funny how that works.

This week has been an adventure in juggling spreadsheets and figuring out how to have 2-3 people be in 5-10 places at the same time for the start of 30-50 classes each day over 10-12 hours... We're getting our steps in and my knees are feeling it. 🏃‍♀️📊🏃‍♀️🗓️🏃‍♀️🕕🏃‍♀️ 😮‍💨

I forgot until the end of the day (a very long day running around trying to fix all the things) I'd chosen these socks today. I only verged on expressing this emotion once in a meeting today, though it may have been simmering at other times. I'll take that as a win, I guess?

Between all the data being removed from core gov't sites, firings, and policies controlling what agency scientists and/or grant funded studies can cover and/or where they can publish, "do your own research" is only going to get more and more dangerous. Plus default AI in so many search results... 🫣

Can confirm that my NSF grant "How False Beliefs Form & How to Correct Them" was cancelled today because it is "not in alignment with current NSF priorities" Shocking that understanding how people are misled by false information is now a forbidden topic. Our work will continue but at a smaller scale

LA is real America. Chicago is real America. Philly is real America. Like, 75% of Illinois' population lives in the Chicago metro area, we are the heart and soul of the state! Same goes for the US at large!

How have we not learned this yet?? At least we can add a comment - it only takes a minute to do so! "In a real sense all life is inter-related. All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly."
