NEW: Evanston has released video + reports surrounding a 10/31 incident where a CBP agent threatened to shoot people + another beat a handcuffed man. We found some disturbing X posts from one of the feds, also seen in other viral videos. His name is Timothy Donahue, and it's now public record:

"He's gonna pay for those shots," Parente added re: Exum, noting the agent bragged about the shooting. "They were not good shots. You will see, eventually, that that was a bad shoot, it was a violation of CBP's use of force policy, and he is going to pay for those shots" the attorney told press.

THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos. I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

Some screenshots from itp_chicago IG. You can see how federal agents stake their presence around some of these communities in intersections in the middle of traffic and sidewalks in front of businesses. This feels very particular to the SW Side with Little Village being a prime target for this.

Federal agents in Chicago are aggressive everywhere but they elevate this in the SW Side. They don’t just snatch people and leave. They linger longer, march down streets with guns, interrupt traffic flows. The attacks feel concerted to instill as much fear & display power over immigrant mhoods.

I fear if things don’t change right now, this image is going to come back to haunt us

The same Supreme Court that said it is unreasonable to consider race when giving kids access to education, has said it's reasonable to consider race when looking to remove someone from the country. Funny how that works.

This week has been an adventure in juggling spreadsheets and figuring out how to have 2-3 people be in 5-10 places at the same time for the start of 30-50 classes each day over 10-12 hours... We're getting our steps in and my knees are feeling it. 🏃‍♀️📊🏃‍♀️🗓️🏃‍♀️🕕🏃‍♀️ 😮‍💨

I forgot until the end of the day (a very long day running around trying to fix all the things) I'd chosen these socks today. I only verged on expressing this emotion once in a meeting today, though it may have been simmering at other times. I'll take that as a win, I guess?

Between all the data being removed from core gov't sites, firings, and policies controlling what agency scientists and/or grant funded studies can cover and/or where they can publish, "do your own research" is only going to get more and more dangerous. Can confirm that my NSF grant "How False Beliefs Form & How to Correct Them" was cancelled today because it is "not in alignment with current NSF priorities" Shocking that understanding how people are misled by false information is now a forbidden topic. Our work will continue but at a smaller scale
