So the US Secretary of Health and Human Services just claimed not only COVID-19 but 'many other global pandemics' started from gain-of-function research, including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) outbreaks and Lyme disease. This is deeply irresponsible. There is not a shred of evidence for this.

It's sort of wild that the US president declares war and announces peace deals 3-4 times a week now and it's just...barely even news any more? Could it be unhealthy? Who can say!

Now why does this remind me of the UK higher education sector?
Charging extortionate fees in the UK is a political choice, and a very recent one. Whenever people think it's justified to pay almost £10k per year for Nottingham, Cardiff and Sheffield they need to be reminded that they can study essentially for free in Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Stockholm.

Students deserve better than this broken system of unfair repayment that widens inequality. Abolish fees and fund universities properly!
