Does anyone have a link to an official source that shows the deadline to submit papers so they can be included in IPCC AR7 WGI? Web search gives me March 2027 for submission and October 2027 for acceptance but not from an official source.

Pro-wrestling executive Linda McMahon issued a letter today (in her role as US Secretary of Education) demanding that universities justify their existence and explain policies to the Trump administration by the end of 2026. Not sure what the endgame is, but it sure feels like a trap.

How did photosynthetic life survive the coldest part of Snowball Earth? New paper led by Greta Shum shows that dark bare land surfaces allow temperatures to locally reach above freezing even when the average temperature of Earth is -60C, allowing for liquid water and life. doi.org/10.1029/2025...

It is the 5 yr anniversary of the 2021 PNW heat wave, where Seattle reached locally unheard of temperatures of 108F/42.2C. Like most people here my family didn’t have AC for relief. I spent this week in the UK, where another major heatwave exposed how unprepared we are to manage our altered climate.
I am hiring! My former postdocs have all gone on to great ongoing roles, so I am now looking for 2 new postdocs in dynamic vegetation modelling: Modelling vegetation-fire interactions in Australia Modelling Australian vegetation distributions Details linked below - please share!

The land carbon cycle, and its fate in a warming world is clearly one of the big "known unknowns" in our climate future. It is particularly crucial to know what happens to the land carbon budget after we achieve net zero. All that carbon we have stocked so far is very vulnerable, being present

We have a new preprint this week. When CO2 emissions stop, warming in the pipeline is controlled by two big opposing effects - thermal response to energetic imbalance *and* carbon sink evolution. We assess their roles in the flat10MIP ensemble /thread/ egusphere.copernicus.org/preprints/20...

Abstract. The Zero Emissions Commitment (ZEC), the residual warming after anthropogenic CO2 emissions cease, remains poorly constrained and directly affects remaining carbon budget calculations. We fi...
