Nothing, I thought, could demolish my ego like graduate school. Then I became a parent, where the longer your string of successes the bigger the sense of failure when things go even just a little awry.
Me at 16 years old: Hey, I better read John Locke, Thomas Paine, Thomas Hobbes, Jean Rousseau, Henry Thoreau.... because understanding the philosophical underpinnings and nuances of the new American democracy will be very important in the future! Society in 2025: Get bent, NERD!
This headline is wild. Such passivity despite the words describing several constitutional and international crises.

But it has also been a really challenging place to live and work for most of the last 10 years. I'm clearly very tired and need a longer break.

A few loud people care and the rest are memeing to ride the “outrage” wave of social media clout. I think that “no one cares” is closer an approximation than “everyone cares.”
I was born in 1985. I like to describe this experience as, "born in the 80s but remember the 70s." I cannot fully explain it, but that description feels perfect. Black and white TVs, rotary phones, beta-max, drunk driving as socially acceptable behavior.

One of the things I was not prepared for was extent simply holding to account a president over decorum would be considered silly political correctness, so much that a so-called hostile press seems to largely turn a blind eye. POTUS called the Fed Bank Chairman "stupid." And it wasn't even a story.
Every year goes by and my self-delusion of enjoying the beach, despite almost never really doing so when there, is bitterly eroded. It's self-care.

I'm slowing realizing the only way people will ever accept replacing human customer service with AI is to get them so used to terrible service they will willfully accept the high propensity of error in AI service functions (e.g. insurance denials) because it will seem no worse.
I was there for MK from the jump. It was culturally significant in ways I cannot explain. I had 3 xmases of MK, MKII, MKIII Ultimate for the SNES as THE gifts I wanted. Passing notes of fatalities, blood codes, Reptile, Smoke, "Toasty!" Cinematically this might be manure, but I'll love it still.
