Telling transphobes that they forgot about trans men makes for a snappy “gotcha” moment. But it doesn’t fix anything—in fact, it plays right into the way transmisogyny deals with transmasculinity. So this week, I wrote about the “gotcha” problem.

The “social contagion” panic posits that the increasing number of transmasculine people are misled women trying to escape misogyny, and will ultimately change their minds.

We can’t keep pretending that trans men are not targets of transphobia and misogyny. The patriarchy needs to protect the unchangeable category of woman (as an asset). Trans men can’t be allowed to exist. The silence about us is not accident, ignorance, tolerance, privilege—it’s a threat.

MASSIVE win for a Monday morning - campaigners in Scotland have succeeded in getting NHS Lothian to drop their openly discriminatory surgery ban for trans people aged under 25.
