For my sins (lust, obvs) I used to edit Harry Potter slash back in the day and it was striking just how much better most of the fanfic was than the majority of Gender Karen’s actual published output. Not just the writing, but often also doing something with how itchily wrong the world seemed.
Disclosure Day has this half decent little speech two thirds of the way through the film whose obvious subtext decries America’s wrong turn towards post-truth politics ever since Nixon, immediately followed by a scene unsubtly shilling AI use in newsrooms. Spielberg retire bitch.

Being a Potter fan was always a moral embarrassment because it permits the reader to imagine themselves innocent for wanting to side with the ruling class the very first chance they got. This is why the fandom didn’t die out with JKR’s goodwill, because she’d long since radicalised the bootlickers.
This is what is never taken into account when existing organisations try to mollify extremists with compromise. They're not compromised with, they just recognise a new weapon they can use. Rowling should never have been given a single inch.

It's part of its job description to specifically leverage its resources to stand its ground against actual and threatened SLAPPs from bad actors!

Why is the list of awful things people think it’s fine and normal for the state to do to other people always growing?
I think the struggles of trans women often reflect the struggles of women as a whole, exacerbated and amplified in places. The cis women I talk to usually understand and empathize with my struggles, even those resulting from transphobia, because of our shared struggle for dignity and autonomy. 🧵
