Spielberg is very lucky that Israel were so blatantly awful that he was able to quietly drop his Oct 7th documentary project before it got too far.

For my sins (lust, obvs) I used to edit Harry Potter slash back in the day and it was striking just how much better most of the fanfic was than the majority of Gender Karen’s actual published output. Not just the writing, but often also doing something with how itchily wrong the world seemed.
Disclosure Day has this half decent little speech two thirds of the way through the film whose obvious subtext decries America’s wrong turn towards post-truth politics ever since Nixon, immediately followed by a scene unsubtly shilling AI use in newsrooms. Spielberg retire bitch.
I’m not saying America is a death cult but you could definitely defeat it by throwing a phoenix down at the White House
Being a Potter fan was always a moral embarrassment because it permits the reader to imagine themselves innocent for wanting to side with the ruling class the very first chance they got. This is why the fandom didn’t die out with JKR’s goodwill, because she’d long since radicalised the bootlickers.
This is what is never taken into account when existing organisations try to mollify extremists with compromise. They're not compromised with, they just recognise a new weapon they can use. Rowling should never have been given a single inch.
Amnesty also making their own job harder as they demonstrate that every tinpot dictator and murderous oligarch simply has to issue a legal writ of "It was actually very HURTFUL when you described me as genocidal despot" and they fold like an origami coward
Amnesty's capitulation is unacceptable, because a human rights NGO is not simply a discount think tank (viz. a double discounted research university). It's part of its job description to specifically leverage its resources to stand its ground against actual and threatened SLAPPs from bad actors!
A friend once wondered why his wife brought him Gatorade red he hadn't asked for. We enlightened him. (Turns out he'd forgotten an anniversary, and she was planning a "romantic" evening.)
She’s like “hey babe I bought pineapple juice 😏” what could this mean
I wish there was a single politician willing to say we need more immigrants here in the UK, immigration is a fundamental freedom and good in-itself, and we should accept all migrants as new neighbours and fellow children of god, as the nominal official religion of this country supposedly preaches
"Sinking in Polls, Farage Plans Week of Attacks on Immigration" Reform plan to make next week Immigration Week It could finally be the moment for broadcast media to notice the > 75% drop in net migration since 2024. There is also a 42% drop in boat crossings
Drilling the North Sea would be breaching a Labour manifesto commitment. Which of course makes all of Burnham's protestations of the things he can't do because they weren't in the Labour manifesto utterly meaningless. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

El Sayed: "When it comes to trans rights, this is the right to get the health care that you need...It’s the right not to be discriminated against by your government because of who you are. Because what tends to happen is they come for theirs, then they come for yours"
Wow the Daily Mail is downplaying the crossing of a picket line for only the millionth time in its history
To be fair, any criticism at ALL is like, homicide to the English media.
Too many Americans are conditioned to believe that ACLU are left-wing heroes, even though its most consistent ideological position since its inception has been the defence of fascists.

Why is the list of awful things people think it’s fine and normal for the state to do to other people always growing?
I think the struggles of trans women often reflect the struggles of women as a whole, exacerbated and amplified in places. The cis women I talk to usually understand and empathize with my struggles, even those resulting from transphobia, because of our shared struggle for dignity and autonomy. 🧵
