While Blanche claims the settlement is dead, Trump spent the weekend making it clear it's totally alive. He's fighting for it in court and on social media. And Blanche's document only rescinds the order officially setting up the fund. It doesn't change the settlement itself.

On a fundamental level, US politics has not made sense to me since 2015. I no longer understand the basic criteria, values, or rules. I don't know why people do things or don't do things, or how people evaluate things. It's profoundly disorienting and alienating. I don't know how else to put it.

The thing is that the second civil war seems to have started. The constitutional order that guaranteed the republic is no longer in place. Soon, blue states, like California will have no say whatsoever even in their own governance.

The indictment of James Comey is the most absurd, extraordinary violation of norms (May 3, 2026). People are dying elsewhere - a greater tragedy - so Comey having to pay lawyers to fight to a foregone conclusion of dismissal is only a problem because it puts everyone at risk. 86 47 and 86 47's AG.

Every so often I marvel at the weirdness of living through the death of the American dream and it not being a bigger deal.

When the judge dismissed Trump's lawsuit against WSJ, there was a discussion of whether Donald Trump's denial warranted additional investigation. Implicitly, the judge suggested that Trump lies all the time so his denial did not constitute new information that needed to be acted upon.

Same here. I want this nightmare to be over. Only the collective actions of committed people will achieve that without political violence.

To quote Robert Reich, "the state of the Union sucks." I try to not have that fact wear me down mentally, but it's hard.

The sad thing is that Trump and Hegseth and Noem are guilty of murder. They should be held accountable; I am open to suggestions as to how to accomplish that.

There is absolutely no indication that Trump can hold the House, but I am still very anxious.

What everyone is forgetting is that the Super Bowl halftime show is a major corporate sponsored event that is global in reach. Apple Music was not going to pay big bucks to sponsor a lame ass musician whose target demographic was Trump America.

Things are dire. I fully expect Trump will declare martial law at some point, but there is a non-zero possibility that the House will be majority Dem before the end of the year. Right now 214 Dem and 218 GOP. 2 vacancies will likely go GOP but there's no guarantee. One more vacancy after that . . .
