This is the era of no guarantees. Deep Rock was a major small-studio success story from 2018-on, and I would say the franchise has a genuine fan base. But an effective sequel has gone mostly unnoticed. Reception feels arbitrary at times in gaming.

When I started receiving emails about "AI Appreciation Day" last year, I became curious about where these "days" even come from, expecting the trail to lead me to a marketing company. Instead, it led me to a guy camped on a beach outside of SpaceX for a year.
What the heck is 'AI Appreciation Day'? Turns out it was started by an Elon Musk admirer who camped outside of SpaceX Starbase for a year hoping to talk to the billionaire about AI regulation

Key line here in Xbox's dismal layoffs announcement. Gaming has been in an age of parity for years and years, but this is one of the first formal acknowledgements from a publisher—the biggest game orgs compete with individual game creators like Zeekerss or lemorion_1224 in the attention economy.
