aw man, Peter Cullen. my first gig in games was on Transformers: Rise Of The Dark Spark, and it felt so crazy at the time to share a game credit with him, even if my role was a minor one. rest easy.

man, i have probably the most shallow and casual familiarity with Dolly Parton's music but the news still hit me like a truck. i keep thinking about the Imagination Library and getting choked up

so it turns out my math here was a bit sloppy, but NOW i am roughly five months away from the end of my contract in late January! do YOU need a sound designer / game audio generalist on your team in late January? if so, let's chat!

i'll be back on the job market after my contract with EA ends in exactly five months! do YOU need to hire a sound designer and/or implementer and/or composer in five months? if so, let's talk about it.

Hey, great to see you! So stoked you invited me to your mysterious lab. Looking forward to walking behind you as you exposit all your cool projects! Just a minute though I gotta dip behind the security desk and read the messages on the terminal. Oh hold up these posters on the wall are readable too.

Friendly Reminder: 3DS, Vita and Switch all use a type of flash memory that needs an electrical charge every decade or so to keep the game data from corrupting. TLDR: Boot up all your games and make a save on them to help preserve them into the future!

today i have decided to violently transform into a sound designer who understands how Reaper subprojects work and uses them regularly. [my hands start shaking] ah, it's already begun! [the sound of tearing flesh is heard, i double over] augh it hurts but it'll be worth it for the efficiencyyy

so happy to see Black Pony Immersive spinning up. whatever they release, i will be first in line to buy it. and then i will annoy all of my friends and family into also buying it too.

today's the first day of JLPT registration for all US test sites! if you intend to take the JLPT in December, make a registration plan *today.* my registration plan is to set approximately 1000 alarms for noon pdt

finally decided to troubleshoot a problem that had been costing me a couple of work hours a month, and it turns out that it actually took me only 15 minutes to fix once i really put my mind to it. there is a lesson here, and oh my god i sure hope it sticks!!

There's an evolution to sound design audio where for the first few years one often targets absolute realism. Then suddenly you understand the actual target is making the unreal *feel* real. It's not just dumping audio physics into an engine. Mastery of anything is knowing exactly how to break rules.

every few years, i seriously consider buying a new car. this means that every few years i get mad that Honda discontinued the Fit. this also means that every few years i read new horror stories about terrible dealership experiences. my kingdom for a pleasant experience buying a cute red town car

been picking out gameplay clips for a new sound design reel this weekend. I'm sure everyone has a different strategy for this, but my method is to pick games that are 1) around 5 years old, and 2) made by studios full of audio designers i'm completely unaffiliated with.

when i was a kid, i found some Japanese-language Zelda manga at the LA Kinokuniya while on a trip, and i *begged* my parents to buy it for me even though i couldn't really read it. i poured over every page nonetheless. anyway, after 8 years of independent Japanese study i can read it now ✌️

it's a phone pic of three volumes of Zelda manga. two volumes contain the story of Ocarina Of Time, and a third volume covers Majora's Mask.
