The prologue of every Stephen King novel published between 1975 and 1988: Under thy shadow by the piers I waited Only in darkness is thy shadow clear. The City’s fiery parcels all undone, Already snow submerges an iron year...--Hart Crane We've got the biggest balls of them all --AC/DC

per last fm, the Cure have finally been dethroned as my most-listened artist. It’s an obviously incomplete data set (missing an easy 1000+ GD listens on Relisten, Play Dead, and CD) but pretty wild to see a lifetime of listening matched by an 8 month deep dive that is still in the relative shallows

Screenshot of last fm listening data, showing the Grateful Dead with 3,124 listens and the Cure with 3,106

Had a blast climbing Mt. Lindsey’s NW Ridge this week, except for the hike to the ridge which was a slog and the hike down which was a death march and the part where I stayed too high on the ridge and had to do a sketchy downclimb off a spire to get to the crux, which was very fun climbing

very conflicted about how to handle identity verification requests for websites I use regularly so I guess it's nice of @bsky.app to take the decision of whether to verify out of my hands. anyway see ya later I guess

came across the picture tonight of Uncompahgre Peak at sunrise four years ago. today if you stood at the top and looked west you’d see an 8,000 acre wildfire burning near Ouray. special places.

the Dead clear this without blinking if you like them and don’t come close if you don’t; the interesting angle for them is in which individual years of their career do they clear this. I think all of 68-74 are in, 77 is a lock, 76, 78, and 79 are probable, and that’s as far as my knowledge goes

Once, capitalism promised that companies would compete to sell you a quality product at a fair price. Then that largely ended and you had to choose either a quality product or a fair price. Now, companies resent and are dismantling the obligation to sell you a product to get your money
